Just finished Heated Rivalry episode two and I’ve reached like ultimate English class analyzing brain. I’ve reached peak flow state, all the analyzing I’ve done for Romeo and Juliet in class lately is getting to me istg. So now you get to hear my ramblings
So basically it seems to be that Shane wants more connection with Ilya but he’s got issues man (idk what yet prob because homosexuality was like illegal there for a while) IDK but he’s hesitant. I feel this way because of the bathroom scene after th awards show where Shane is like “why didn’t you text me bro 😕” idk he just had like tears in his eyes I SAW YEARNING ISTG. But anywho, THE LIGHTING IS SYMBOLIZING THEIR RELATIONSHIP. This revelation became clear to me after Shane leaves Ilya’s hotel room with a cold is goodbye from him. He goes into the brightly lit elevator and pulls out his phone to text him. As we see Shane contemplate in real time what to text him, the phone shines a big blue light smack dab on his face. SYMBOLIZING HOW THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS AND HOW ILYA BEHAVES SOMETIMES.
Then, I really hit flow state and my brain went back to the episode. At the very beginning, Ilya pulls up to Shane’s and in his bedroom where they get busy (obvs) he has a fireplace which casts a warm glow over the room. Then BACK AT THE WND AT ILYA’S HOTEL post the award show, he’s staying in one of those rooms with all the big windows (I forget the name mb) and he even points this out to Shane over text prior. The significance of the windows at night time means it dark out, no sunlight. No lights are on. It’s dark in Ilya’s hotel room, the light is cold from the moon. ANYWAY Shane’s room is warm and Ilya’s is cold which shows how each other feels about their relationship Am I onto something or on something?
If you read all of that you’re a real one, thanks for supporting my flowstate brain dump I should probably go to bed👅
When you see the first image, you can see the light is illuminating both Philip and Caleb, symbolizing that Caleb is Philip’s whole world.
When you see the second image, you can see the light is illuminating Belos, and then Hunter, symbolizing that Belos’ is Hunter’s whole world.
And when you see the last image… you can see that he destroyed his whole world.
okay so . memoire 50 *deep inhale*

One thing that broke my heart was that Noé still tried to ask Vanitas first before he lunged at him, even with the fucking insane pressure on everyone at that moment.
Noé doesn’t believe in looking into peoples memories or drinking their blood without consent. That goes against all his moral beliefs. He doesn’t want to become what everyone (aside from maybe Domi and Louis) already see him as. He doesn’t want to become what he already thinks he is.
───────
I saw this post that made me realize that this command/warning is incredibly specific to a group of vampires . Can we just take a moment to note how shit vanitas’s luck (or really, Teacher’s intentional planning) must be to run into an archiviste? Out of all the vampires he could fall into this situation with,, it was a vampire breed known for accessing someone’s memories. I don’t know about the second part with luna but if that is the case,, holy shit .
───────
and that last scene with vanitas ,,, oh god . I feel like he switched to autopilot almost as if it were trained or burned into him (not just in the chasseur training way though) . I think half of it has to do with his chasseur background but the other half is something he learned from the VOTBM and he was told to protect at all costs. I mean, he’s literally quoting luna when he says all this, including “kill that vampire” I assume (which could either just be “that” as in general archiviste or it could be multiple? or maybe luna knew it would be specific to Noé,,, anyways). My point is, I think his brain is literally forcing itself to fall back into old ways as a way to cope with the situation at hand and make sure nobody ever accesses luna’s memories. I wonder what would happen if a vampire where to drink and/or see luna’s memories ? Would it have an effect on them/ their formula ?
that’s all . i apologize for the mess ahdjshjsnsns
Disclaimer: Atla is a series very near and dear to my heart and I truly love all the characters. While I don’t like Katara and Zuko together I really do not care if anyone else chooses to ship them! I don’t mind a little discussion but I don’t like rude arguing or mean comments.
The more I see people talk about how Zuko taking a lightning bolt for Katara the more I’m certain it’s not a good moment to use to justify shipping them.
He was doing the BARE minimum. He goaded Azula into shooting her lighting. The girl was out of her mind! She wasn’t even thinking about it until he asked her to shoot him. Now obviously, Azula is the antagonist and made the choice to fire it in Katara’s direction but let’s be real. Azula knew Zuko would jump in and one of three things would happen.
Zuko would not make it in time and her lighting would injure/kill Katara.
Zuko would make it in time and would be injured/killed.
Zuko would make it in time and successfully redirect her lightning with no injuries on his part.
Now Azula aimed at Katara to reduce the chances of the third option happening and if he was too slow she’d get the added bonus of taking out his backup. Aiming at Katara and having to react to this unexpected shot threw off his stance, technique and mental fortitude which enabled him to do only a partial redirection. Just enough to save his life. He didn’t jump for the sole purpose of saving Katara, as many people insinuate. He did it to fix his own mistake. It’s Zuko’s fault for being stupid and thinking she’s going let him focus and prepare for her attack. It’s also stupid of him to goad an opponent whose generally more adept than he is to perform a powerful attack, particularly when said opponent is 100 times more powerful than normal, and especially if they’re going through a psychotic break. So yeah, it’s his fault she even used lighting at that point in the Agni Kai and he should be the one to rectify that. Not only that, he’s the only one that can do so seeing as Katara can’t bend lightning. There’s really no evidence in this moment that either of them have feelings for each other beyond friendship and comraderie especially since the previous episodes establish team avatar watching each other’s backs while fighting.

Muse and Lord of Light
God I have so many asks and I’m sorry I’m not answering them all at the moment!! It’s kinda overwhelming
But uh
Ok so Muse’s are those who inspire through (aspect)
Light is an aspect of knowledge, relevance, Chance, luck, etc.
A muse of Light would be the most bomb ass teacher!!! They’d inspire students and people through something they do or something they’ve created, maybe a book or a movie? Whatever you want tbh
I feel like they may be the type to sit still and look pretty-Knowledge comes naturally to them, but if they took the time to really put in the effort to study they could do amazing things.
Muse’s are actually a really interesting class and I feel like I’m getting a better understanding of it.
Lord of Light
Ok so my take on Lord is one who Suffers Through Lording Aspect. And hey keep in mind this is total speculation, there isn’t much canon info or hell even fannon info on Lords. Muses as well, but they’re a tad easier to understand.
A Lord of Light,,,They would hoard maybe knowledge and use it in a very condecensing way, Like the very definition of r/iamverysmart. They’d also perhaps be very involved in lottery drawings and raffles, spending tons of time and money only to get nothing in return. They don’t wait for things-they take things.
I imagine they would be desperate to learn all they can about everything, wanting to Lord (haha) it over everybody. Though my opinion on Lords is somewhat biased, so maybe not.
With muse and lord being opposites, I have opposing challenges for them
Challenge for a Muse of Light: Don’t sit and wait for knowledge, take it.
Challenge for a Lord of Light: Don’t chase after knowledge so furiously you lose yourself in it-let it come to you.
This was terrible ;’)
Death Note and Platinum End
Hiya~
I just read the first volume of Platinum End, and I was struck with how different the protagonists of Death Note and Platinum End were. But the similarities also gave me pause that I just had to talk about it!
Platinum End are made by the same people who made Death Note by the way so~
I'll only be using the first two chapters of both manga at the most as references. I don't want you guys to get spoiled after all~
Heck, by the end of this, the protagonist of Platinum End might make an appearance in my DN fic since he grabbed my attention so easily.
~~~SPOILERS AHEAD OF FIRST TWO CHAPTERS!!~~~
Meet Mirai Kakehashi. A boy burdened with years of abuse from his aunt and uncle that he decided he wanted to die.
An angel, as you can see, stops him from dying and offers him power that basically make him GOD. Anyone would love to have wings right? Wings are the key to freedom. *nudge*nudge*to DN fans who know who wanted wings*
Not only wings, the power to make someone fall in love with you in a period of time. That can make Mirai want to live now right?
WRONG.
He can care less about BOTH of these powers, he just wants to die. That's all. He's happy to die and that's that. His life has been horrible, and at the chance of flying away from his problems or trying to find love, he doesn't take it.
Those two things won't help him be happy.
DYING WOULD.
Everything about living, he does not find pleasure in it. His whole life has been pain, constantly. He doesn't care about these powers, nor does he care that he's an actual SMART kid for a middle schooler.
Despite that, he says there's no hope for him. No future.
It's just so interesting...understandable but interesting.
"Humans are so interesting."-Ryuk
Despite his initial refusal, he said yes as a joke to probably make the angel stop joking and go away, only to actually get BOTH of the powers instead of just one of them.
Later, he finds out the truth about his aunt and uncle's wicked ways by using the Arrow Of Love, the one that makes a person fall in love with you and willing to do anything for you. He accidentally wishes the aunt to die and his reaction-
Pure HORROR. Which makes sense of course*waves hands carelessly* ANYBODY would be horrified that they just commanded someone to die, while seeing it happen in front of them no less.
He feels disgusted with himself as well as the angel that she's taking it all in stride with a smile. Saying his aunt deserved it and she should kill his uncle too.
Mirai didn't like it, he was bewildered that an angel would speak of death so casually and that she seems to WANT him to kill, under the farce that the angel just wants him to be happy.
Mirai though, does not wish to be happy by using his powers. He wants NORMAL happiness, not happiness that he has to get by killing and lying and using others with the Arrow of Love.
He still states this after the angel says he's one of 13 people able to become GOD. He has the power to become the New God of the World by competing with the others, and he doesn't WANT IT.
He does not wish to compete at all to become the New God, he just wishes to be happy. He even states repeatedly for the angel to take back the powers, not interested in having them.
He got chosen apparently BECAUSE of his lack of happiness and hopelessness. CHOSEN. SPECIFICALLY.
Because he was unhappy. Like...what?
While the other candidates probably got chosen because they wanted to change the world or something since that's also a viable option to become God.
Despite this, it seems he's going to try to leave peacefully until the other candidates decide to speed things up...and doing their own wicked dark ways to become God.
Even if Mirai wishes simply to be 'happy', to live, he's going to have to use that smart brain of his to stay alive.
But that's just a theory~ Next post will be my observations about Light~ ^.^
So I never got to do my analysis of Together Alone and Escapism, so I am going to do mini quick analysis!
Together Alone:
Confirmation of the pink pearl theory.
Even heavier reinforcement of the conformity beyond conformity theme, they are getting even more overt. We have literal cog people. I like it, actually, but I have seen the discussion since and it is surprising hour many people are just ignoring this stuff. It is clearly vital to everything happening.
The ball as Steven envisioned it was never going to work. That was pretty obvious from the beginning.
Blue and yellow pearl are fantastic.
The title "together alone" is a big clue to what is really going on here. This episode is the opposite of the episode "alone together" web Connie and Steven first fuse.
I'm that episode, they were alone but they were together. In this episode they were together, but by trying to play by gem society rules they we separating themselves as isolating themselves. This was the wrong way to go about this. What they were aiming for was a revolution, a radical restructuring of how the society works. This cannot be achieved within the rules designed to isolate and enforce conformity.
And so we have the hero of this episode, Connie, step in. Dance, fusion, you all saw it. What happened here could not have been better if the gems had planned it. A diamond fusing with an organic in order to cheer up from disappointment, and it happens in public. Then the crystal gems all fusing to show solidarity and to stand with stevonnie, proving definitively that off color fusions are not alone was huge.
So huge that one pair comes out on the spot. In full view of the diamond authority. How many others were there in the crowd who were not as rash? This one event would spread throughout gem society and change everything. Nothing can be the same after it.
And it was all because Connie was willing to break character, so to speak, she prioritize Steven's happiness over an obviously failed plan.
Other note: love the gem pair, I hope we see them again.
Now, notes for escapism: lots of odd stuff in this episode, too odd to really guess at what is going on. My guess is it is foreshadowing for the future of the show and I am going to skip deep analysis. We don't know enough about what is going to happen for meaningful prediction, and I want to get to the next episode. So just small notes.
Steven and Connie are the cutest ever.
I think Steven could have fit through the window but that would mean leaving Connie behind. I am sure this would only have been used as a very last effort, probably if they were starving.
Steven was away for a very long time. Connie supports him the whole time, even after she falls asleep.
Steven why didn't you just write in the dirt to start!
Anyway, in conclusion for these two episodes: we stan Connie in this house forever and if you want to watch a show where people execute perfectly on political machinations go watch game of thrones. Connie was the hero of these episodes and no one can convince me otherwise.
