i don't remember if i ever got around to saying it but there's something incredibly fucked up about Jason coming back as Red Hood and just... giving away secrets to the batsuit. in one of the arkham/gotham knight games he tells his goons to aim for the joints, lets them in on the secret of the bat symbol on the chest and there's something so casually malicious in that, so callous and uncaring and cruel in a few seconds of dialogue that throws me every time i remember it
cause he learned those secrets at Bruce's side, was told them in solemn confidence, was given them because Bruce was trying to give him a measure of control and safety ("I can't promise you I won't die, Jaylad, but here, look, this is how I protect myself, this is how I protect us) Bruce was father and guardian and friend and mentor and Jason tells people how to hurt him and it's the kind of easy, childish cruelty of any kid trying to hurt their parent, the kind of cruelty that doesn't quite see it's target as a full person and sees it's own pain as above all else. it must have devastated Bruce, must have hurt more than the bullets and the disabling of his suit
