π The Night Desk
πΏ When a Story Refuses to Stay Quiet
Hello, friends. βπ
Some stories are loud.
They arrive all at once, demanding attention, refusing to let you sleep until you've emptied them onto the page.
Others...
Others are stubborn little ghosts.
They haunt the edges of your thoughts for months, sometimes years. They don't want to be written. They want to be understood.
Lately, I've been spending time with one of those stories.
π½ Thimblewick Crowe has been sitting in the corner of my mind, leaning against a fence post while his crow watches me struggle to figure out where his journey truly begins.
The funny thing is... I already know how it ends.
I know where the fire starts.
I know who keeps the secrets.
I know the road he eventually takes.
It's everything in between that's proving difficult.
And maybe that's the lesson.
β¨ Writing isn't always about discovering the ending.
Sometimes it's about earning it.
ποΈ One thing I've been reminding myself lately is this:
Not every day has to produce thousands of words.
Sometimes progress looks like...
πΏ Renaming a chapter.
π Finding the perfect title for a poem.
πͺΆ Realizing a crow belongs in a scene.
β Rebuilding a blog that finally feels like home.
Those count, too.
If you've ever stared at a blank page wondering whether the words forgot your name...
You're not alone.
The Night Desk has seen plenty of those evenings.
The tea gets cold.
The cursor blinks.
The stories wait patiently.
Eventually...
One sentence appears.
And that's usually enough to find the next one.
π
Until next time,
