My identity as Louis will always be intertwined with my experience as a Queer, Black Transgender Man, despite often being perceived as cisgender in my day-to-day life. My upbringing, family, and society instilled in me a distinctly masculine way of moving through the world for survival though I have always carried a deep femininity that feels equally intrinsic to who I am.
It is deeply validating to see trans experiences and traits reflected throughout Anne Rice’s own writing and experiences, Jacob Anderson’s portrayal, and the passionate trans-representative works by fellow fans.
To find such personal layers of yourself within a story and a community that actively represents those deeper aspects is a beautiful thing. I’m deeply grateful.
