Her case has always bothered me, from the first time I read about it a few years back - and then I saw the documentary and it baffled me further. As did the weirdness surrounding the guy that was accused, Ian Bailey. French authorities/lawyers/Sophie's family had him tried in France and found guilty (all in his absence). He was never extradited. He died in 2024 before seeing a trial in Ireland.

I want to see what Jim Sheridan has done with her story - short of proof over Ian's involvement and him not being dead, perhaps remembering her case and bringing it forward would have at least a little glimmer of possibility of new evidence?

I feel for her family in France - they'll never know the truth. Bailey got off too easily; I was convinced he'd done it when I watched the documentary, but people know that documentaries like this are always presented in a way that makes the views see a certain angle. Well never know if he really did do it. His reactions to people posing the question all but confirms his guilt, I'd argue, but still. It's a shame nothing was ever done/able to be done in Ireland.
