I guess I can't post about Kiu without posting the epic oyster crew oyster time. So many oysters on the table - too bad we couldn't get a group shot!

The simplest way to cook is sometimes the best way to cook the freshest ingredients, especially when it comes to seafood! Not only does it preserve the texture and nutrients, but it also lets the natural sweetness of the meat to shine through. Love love love steamed hot pot at Yu Guo Yan, because even though we were lavished with 19 dishes, it didn't make us feel heavy after the meal at all compared to traditional hot pot!

Impromptu dinner at Ken-Oh the other day friends. Decided to try out this Japanese nagoya-style spaghetti house to see if it lived up to the hype! I ordered the teppan okonomiyaki napolatin (or naporatin as the Japanese originally said), which is basically spaghetti with tomato sauce on a bed of egg and topped with green peppers, onions, bacon, bonito flakes, nori and okonomiyaki sauce and mayo. The dish itself isn't particularly spectacular, but it does come with generous portions! I'm also a sucker for ketchup sauce so I still really enjoyed my spaghetti.

Thanksgiving lunch with the foodie fam Alchemy Coffee today. So many things to be thankful for this year.. (get ready for the cheese) thankful for the opportunities, and getting to meet so many new friends in the foodie community! Thankful for those who are incredibly supportive in my life and willing to challenge me for personal growth. Thankful for all my followers on IG since I started. I really wouldn't be where I am without you guys. Finally, I'm so so thankful that God had planned for all this to happen. It's been quite a crazy journey already and I thank you for coming along on this crazy ride with me! Ordered the matcha tea latte and wished I drank it while it was still hot. Otherwise, I loved that it wasn't too sweet and the matcha flavour was quite prominent! Also ordered the peameal bacon eggs benny, which came with a salad and roasted baby potatoes. A little bit on the salty side, but the runny yolk helped balance that out. If you plan to visit, the chicken and waffles is also worth checking out! You might want to go a bit earlier since seating is quite limited and it does get busy!

I think yesterday must've been one of my most hectic/fulfilling days! 5am call time for friend's wedding. In between the long morning preparations and ceremony and the reception, we still managed to squeeze in time to go to the food truck fest! The best strategy at food festivals like this is always to divide and conquer so that you can maximize time-efficiency and get as much food as possible before the end of the day.with that said, don't forget to bring lots of friends with you.

Please excuse all the sweets posts lately - trying to get all my frozen desserts in before winter creeps up on us! I really can't believe it's already September! It's one of those days where that craving for traditional flavours hit, so we got ourselves some taiwanese shaved ice topped with peanuts, red bean, tapioca and taro balls, drizzled with condensed milk (I think it's called taro balls no. 3). Very traditional. Very light and refreshing. And the taro balls and tapioca were delightfully chewy.

Sometimes when you're craving something, it's that much more satisfying if you make it yourself. Had a great time cooking with friends and finally catching up! It's been a while.
