Alam mo yung filipino shows na sobrang korni na parang pinipilit lang nilang magpatawa? The comedy was not my problem, it's he values they show.
There was a segment of this show before this where a group of tambay allegedly catcalled a girl, then it turns out they were catcalling the guy cousin. After the revelation, the actors around were reacting:
As if being gay was gross. As if being gay doesn't deserve respect. (though they catcalled someone and that's illegal, they should be killed only for that reason).
Then I look back, ow, it has always been like this in Philippine comedy that some of us can't laugh anymore. Gasgas na joke, pagod na kami, na-o-offend na kami, but it still appears in this network. In this network where 'my husband's lover' and 'the rich man's daughter' originally aired. I have never watched those series so I have no right to judge, but this network present it as 'original', 'progressive', 'open-minded', as if I need to be thankful that I'm finally having a representation. And they still make these 'gasgas' gay jokes, making a comedy out of soft men and people in drag.
You don't need to demean them to be funny, right? You don't need to be boastful to give a representation, right? Why...
... Okay while I was writing this blog they made fun of MMDA spokesperson and called her "Chanilla Palagi" and said "ay nako sya nanaman" and Palagi said, "The Bus Passed Away." I am not laughing, GMA, I am not. You don't mess with my traffic Queen you can't even be half as smart-sounding as she is. Fuck.
... Anyway. Sorry I'm still angry because we don't have any other channel. So why is ABS-CBN more successful in gay comedy and gay representation? Vice Ganda is not making a fool of herself while performing just to make people laugh. Once in a while she randomly spurts lessons about gender sensitivity and is a natural feminist without being a man-hater. Jackie of Halik has a gay best friend who is a respectable corporate boi with innocent crush, but is not clingy, flirty, or disgusting and patiently waits for his crush to look at him.
Funny, and at the same time, heartwarming.
Was that hard? Did they brag?
((sorry for being triggered, but I think I just have a little bit of point. I'm not being offended personally, but I just want general respect to each and every human.))
