Plant of the Day
Sunday 20 September 2020
The autumn colour foliage of Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium' (downy Japanese maple, full moon maple) provides a long lasting display. The cultivar name of this large deciduous shrub or small tree refers to the leaves resembling the foliage of the herbaceous plant Aconitum (monkshood). The leaves are rounded, with 7-11 deeply cut main lobes with the originally name being 'maiku jaku', which means ‘dancing peacock’, what a great name!
