Receptivity to Nourishment — Full Moon in Cancer (Pushya)
January 28, 2021
I had to take a moment earlier in my day to sit and decompress with a comforting cup of tea. Personally, the energies feel intense and fluctuating — carrying, at times, a slightly numbing effect. I offered my reverences to Lord Saturn, the ruling planet of today’s full moon, and sat quietly, staring off into nowhere.
Interestingly, amidst it all, I felt a rather cold yet nourishing blanket of warmth. It may sound contradictory, but that is exactly how it felt. There is a blessing that emerges, yet also a sense of reservation about the trustworthiness or legitimacy of the experience. And, of course, there is what you’ve grown accustomed to and normally fall back on. I found a clear push-and-pull effect at work.
Just personal observations.
Today’s full moon moves through the sign of Cancer, embodying the essence of mother energy — the restlessness and turbulence of the surface of deep waters; waters that come into direct contact with the elements and the play of the moon’s light and shadow.
The transit takes place in the mid-section of Cancer, in the constellation of Pushya, symbolized by the cow — specifically the cow’s udder, the organ of nourishment and comfort.
There is a strong nurturing effect with this moon. Themes may arise that compare and contrast the nostalgias of life — whether pleasant childhood memories or the simple comforts we have grown to fancy in our day-to-day lives, those small sources of assurance and well-being.
With Capricorn as the opposite sign, we will see a play between our work ethic, goals, structure, and boundaries, and that innate part of us that longs to be nourished. This interplay will also be visible in our surroundings.
It is a profound dynamic.
Ideally, we strive for a harmonious flow between both spaces, though realistically it is often a struggle.
We may need to regroup. There may be a sense of failure. Many are currently moving through life upheavals, as new lights are shed on the paths that have led us to this moment.
For some, this moon will highlight a very specific area of life where there has been a strong and continuous lack — whether within the self, the family or home, work or business, or spiritual and religious pursuits. The energies will find a way to reflect these truths back to us.
A strong wind now seeks to activate the inner sanctuary. As mentioned in my last moon writing, strong Capricorn themes remain in effect, bringing a real sense of movement and the activation of dormant areas of life. There is guidance to endure through difficulty.
Some may be called to raise the standard, while others are required to hold fast to convictions and stand firm.
There is so much love here.
Have a peaceful and nourishing full moon. I think I’ll snuggle up with my babies and watch a movie.
