Punarvasu describes an almost infant state where we are still too innocent to face the evil realities of the outside world, and so we isolate at home and suckle at our mother's breast, hearing stories of the outside world to prepare to face it.

Punarvasu men especially can be very naive, gullible and easily lied to, and they are especially susceptible to the deceptions and manipulations of women (who represent that maternal/feminine protection they crave) and for this reason they can be the sort of men that believes any and every lie their wife or girlfriend tells them, and they can refuse to believe outsiders when they try to tell them the truth of who their female partners are.

One of the superpowers of Bharani nakshatra, is it's capacity to terminate old, outdated habits and to overcome addiction.

The Shakti of the Nakshatra is apabharani Shakti (the power of removal/to take away).

This of course is associated with the psychopompic qualities of its ruler, Lord Yama.. his removal of ones soul/subtle body, from the gross body, and on to the transition of the next phase of existence.

As someone who has a Bharani Ascendant directly conjunct Ketu Bharani, this affect is especially pronounced – my worldview, my most ingrained approach to this incarnation.. and modus operandi, is to dissolve, to scorch what no longer serves, to remagine myself and through sheer will detach from whatever I wish. Not to mention, my personal most defining/self identifying placement, my D60 Guru Chandal, Atmakaraka Jupiter, conjunct Rahu, so closely conjunct.. they are in the same devata, of Shudda, and both in bharani pada 2, 3rd house.

Throughout my life, I have gone through so many extremes.. so much intense, boundary pushing, imbibing of substances, content, propaganda and shifting lifestyles – I experimented with the intense, spectral nature of human penchants.

I have smoked packs of American sprits for years, consumed dangerous amounts of alcohol, smoked stupifying amounts of pot, was cracked out on caffeine.. each for a decade or more – knowing that I could, and eventually would quit, whenever it was my time. Literally full blown sober for years from every substance, now including caffeine.

This type of deep engagement in the heavy, the overindulgence.. the "fuck it we ball", carelessness, that ruins most people, and the subsequent, cold turkey withdrawal – the triumphant conquering of tamas, in which left hand tantriks are known for, is part of my sadhana, and is reflected in my bharani placements.
