We stand amidst the last eclipse of the season and are being saturated by energies that distinctly highlight the need to bring a consistent form of care to the things needed in our lives that help to evolve or grow us in a more positive and balanced direction. We can see this taking place in the world today, as we are challenged to commit to a new way of perceiving and understanding the world, the peoples of the world — and particularly those to which we have identified as “minorities” or “third world peoples.” Where we as the peoples of the world have demonstrated a blind faith in government, or in political and/or religious leaders, or in preference towards certain ideologies — circumstances around us now compel us towards re-examination and change.

There is an upscaling or a value change at hand. In our personal lives, we might question this balancing effect within ourselves to see where there might be the need to re-prioritize what we commit to. Where are there tendencies towards being one extreme or the other — where we negate to find a balance between both spaces or ways of being? Where might understanding and compassion take us farther than judgments, projections, and/or criticisms?

The energies at work now place the world and each one of us at a crossroads — a crossroads that emphasizes the need for humility. My sentiments continue to remain the same in that we can see how we care for ourselves, through the way in which we care for or lack to care for those around us — perhaps those who are quite different from us and not all that different, simultaneously.

The full moon lunar eclipse takes place in the constellation of Purva Ashada. This nakshatra spans from 13°20'–26°39' in the sign of Sagittarius and has to do with tending to, or the consistent care that is needed in nurturing our success. The constellation holds the name “Earlier Victory” and is symbolized by a winnowing basket and a hand fan — instruments that are utilized for the purpose of discriminating between what is useful and what is not, and bringing comfort and care to the growth of what is consciously intended. It is very easy to visualize the early growth and care needed for newly sprouted seedlings as synonymous with this energy.

This is also a time that is celebrated as the Purnima (full moon) of the Guru. The Guru is also synonymous with consistent care and guidance. It is beneficial to set aside time to be reflective of those who have been instrumental in our guidance and growth — and to recognize and honor this. Meditations, mantras, prayers, and chanting are all beautiful practices for this time. Solitude and quiet dedication to our growth and transformation are favorable as we move through this eclipse.
