the sun nakshatra theme of learning through experience (ft. jupiter)
sun-dominant individuals value objectivity and being down-to-earth, however the need to be objective or realistic can quickly turn into pessimism if left unchecked. if i offer an optimistic or philosophical โjupiterianโ perspective on a given problem, sun individuals can be the quickest to push it backโ especially if they see my point of view as too abstract or something that lacks objective grounding. (but my ketu is in uttaraphalguni. deep down, i understand where theyโre coming from, too.)
words and advice can only do so much. for solar individuals to learn lessons, thereโs a theme of needing to experience something firsthand in order to truly understand it.
- โ โ โ โ โ โ โ -หห เผป๐คเผบ หห- โ โ โ โ โ โ โ -
in light of the recent holiday season, a good example of this is in the movie itโs a wonderful life (1946) starring james stewart (krittika sun, uttara ashadha moon) as george bailey.
TW: suicide, mental health issues
when george bailey encounters what seems to be a treacherous, unsolvable dilemma, he decides to end his life. that is, until his angel clarence shows up. played by henry travers (purvabhadrapada sun), clarence saves george and tries his best to explain why george should not throw his life away. despite emphasizing the profound impact george had made on his family and everyone in his town, clarence struggles to convince him.
clarence soon understands that georgeโs strong down-to-earth and no-bullshit mentality was hindering him from understanding his somewhat esoteric message. talking wouldnโt help. what george needed was firsthand experience. thus, clarence decides to help george understand his worth by creating an alternate reality where george does not exist.
even when clarence creates the alternate universe, george doesnโt believe it when people in his town have no idea who he is. as the movie progresses, george witnesses the terrible condition his town is left in without his existence in the world. he gradually understands clarenceโs lesson, and when he returns to reality, he is overjoyed to see his family and the townspeople who gather to celebrate and help him.
left: james stewart (krittika sun, uttara ashadha moon); right: henry travers (pbp sun)
this teacher-student relationship is often portrayed in media between sun and jupiter individuals. itโs that king-advisor relationship that surya and brihaspati have. you could even argue that george bailey is the โkingโ of his town because of his strong financial and cultural influence on it. after his โkingdomโ (bedford falls) was faced with a huge obstacle, he received help from his โroyal advisor,โ clarence.
- โ โ โ โ โ โ โ -หห เผป๐คเผบ หห- โ โ โ โ โ โ โ -
a similar theme is portrayed in the movie good will hunting (1997) starring matt damon (uttara ashadha moon).
matt damon plays will hunting, a man with a genius-level intellect whose avoidant attachment keeps him from fully using his potential or allowing himself meaningful relationships. throughout the film, will consistently resists emotional vulnerability, even when presented with opportunities that could significantly improve his life.
after willโs intelligence is discovered at mit, he is required to work with a therapist, sean maguire. unlike previous therapists will had driven away by intellectual intimidation or emotional manipulation, sean refuses to abandon him, despite carrying unresolved grief of his own.
will attempts to break sean the same way he had others and nearly succeeds when he targets seanโs deceased wife. although sean reacts with intense anger, he does not give up on will.
later, sean shares a story about missing a historic baseball moment because he chose to talk to a woman who would eventually become his wife. he simply explained to his friends, โi gotta go see about a girl.โ will is baffled by this decision, unable to understand why someone would prioritize love over personal enjoyment.
only after will begins to fall in love himself does he start to grasp seanโs perspective. as his relationship deepens, his avoidant tendencies resurface, causing him to abruptly pull away and sabotage both his romantic life and his future. however, by the end of the film, will chooses vulnerability over self-protection. he leaves his promising career behind and writes sean a note explaining that he is driving across the country to reconcile with the woman he loves, echoing seanโs words: โi gotta go see about a girl.โ
left: robin williams; right: matt damon (uttara ashadha moon)
notice how will didnโt understand seanโs devotion for his wife until he himself experienced love in a serious relationship. he mocked sean's wife in the beginning and couldn't comprehend closely loving someone. sean advised him, but will could only follow his advice after he experienced real love firsthand. in the end, he found himself driving across the country to make amends with the girl he loved, slowly but surely overcoming his avoidant traits.
- โ โ โ โ โ โ โ -หห เผป๐คเผบ หห- โ โ โ โ โ โ โ -
while these โlearning experiencesโ are a pattern with sun dominant people, this phenomena is something that everyone can relate to. you may hear, read, or watch videos for advice, but nothing will teach you more than firsthand experience does.

Your guide,
Lulunatic๐
Cancer Nakshatra Deities: Ashlesha, Pushya, Punarvasu
Ashlesha โ The Nagas, the Divine Serpents ๐๐:The Nagas are the magnificent race of divine serpents, born from the sage Kashyapa and Kadru. Far more than ordinary snakes, they are ancient beings associated with wisdom, hidden knowledge, treasures beneath the earth, and the mysterious forces of nature ๐ฟโจ.
Throughout Hindu traditions, the Nagas appear in many different roles. Some oppose Garuda, the mighty eagle of Vishnu ๐ฆ , while others become protectors of the gods and the universe, such as Ananta (Shesha), the endless serpent, who serves as the cosmic couch upon which Vishnu rests between cycles of creation ๐๐. Others, like Vasuki, assist both devas and asuras during the Churning of the Ocean, while Takshaka becomes famous for his role in the story of King Parikshit.
The Nagas are incredibly intelligent and possess extraordinary powers. They can assume human form, and the Naginis, their female counterparts, are often described as mesmerizing women capable of enchanting those they encounter ๐ซ๐๏ธ. Their venom can destroy, yet their wisdom can also heal and protect.
Not every Naga meets a glorious fate. Some suffer because of their own actions, while others become innocent victims of larger cosmic events, such as the burning of the Khandava Forest by Agni ๐ฅ. Their stories remind us that power without wisdom can become destructive.
โโโโโโโโโโ โฆโโโโโโโโโโ โฆโโโโโโโโโโ โฆโโโโโโโโโโ
Pushya โ Brihaspati, the Mighty Priest of the Devas ๐โญ:Brihaspati is the revered guru and high priest of the devas, celebrated as one of the wisest figures in Vedic tradition ๐๐. In later texts, he becomes identified with the planet Jupiter, symbolizing wisdom, ethics, expansion, and higher knowledge.
He is the lord of sacred speech, the master of the Vedas, rituals, mantras, and dharma ๐๏ธโจ. Whenever the devas face a difficult decision, they seek Brihaspati's counsel. His wisdom extends beyond philosophy: he is an exceptional strategist, understanding diplomacy, statecraft, and the subtle art of overcoming obstacles through intelligence rather than brute force ๐ง โ๏ธ.
His personal life, however, reminds us that even great sages are not free from trials. While Brihaspati devoted himself to his sacred duties, his wife Tara fell in love with Chandra, the Moon god ๐. Their union produced Budha (Mercury). Although Brihaspati was not Budha's biological father, he ultimately accepted and raised him.
His great counterpart is Shukracharya, the guru of the Asuras and the planetary deity associated with Venus. Together, Brihaspati and Shukra embody two immense streams of knowledge serving opposing cosmic camps โ๏ธ๐.
According to the Rig Veda, Brihaspati is described carrying a bow whose string is Rta, the cosmic order upon which dharma itself rests ๐นโจ. Pushya reflects intelligence, and guidance ๐ผ๐.
โโโโโโโโโโ โฆโโโโโโโโโโ โฆโโโโโโโโโโ โฆโโโโโโโโโโ
Punarvasu โ Aditi, the Boundless Mother ๐๐๏ธ:Aditi is the great mother of the Adityas, the solar deities who uphold cosmic order โ๏ธ. Her name literally means "the Boundless" or "the Infinite," reflecting limitless space, freedom, compassion, and divine protection.
She embodies the infinite sky, embracing all beings without limitation ๐๐. In later traditions she is sometimes depicted riding a celestial bird, symbolizing transcendence and renewal ๐๏ธโจ.
Aditi is closely associated with punyaโthe spiritual merit accumulated through righteous actions such as studying the Vedas, performing yajnas (sacrifices), practicing tapas (austerities), giving in charity (dana), and living according to dharma ๐ฟ๐ฅ. This merit becomes an invisible wealth that protects, uplifts, and strengthens both the individual and future generations.
Her blessings extend far beyond material prosperity. She grants abundance, protection, wisdom, and inner richnessโthe kind of wealth that cannot be taken away ๐ฟ๐.
Aditi is also the mother of Vamana, Vishnu's fifth avatar, whose humility and wisdom restored balance to the three worlds ๐โจ. (see Shravana here)
Punarvasu beautifully reflects her nurturing nature: renewal after hardship, limitless possibilities, and the comforting assurance that every ending can become a new beginning ๐๐ชท.
If my Vedic astrology insights bring you clarity or inspiration, youโre welcome to support my work on Ko-fi. โจ๐
Hi diva!!! Came from twitter to say youโre an incredible astrologer and I love your observationsโฃ๏ธ
My question is general, but I wanted to know what you think of each of the Saturn Nakshatras, their symbolism/any tidbits you can give? Thank you!! ๐น
hi honey love !! thanks for being so kind ๐ฅฐ
so the modern association of "ruling planets" for the 27 nakshatras is actually just an organizational tool used to sequence a person's planetary periods (dashas) as defined by the vimshottari dasha system. the true rulers of the nakshatras are the Devas that are individually associated with each of them !!
i still want to give you some insight though, so let's talk about:
PUSHYA NAKSHATRA (3ยฐ20 to 16ยฐ40 cancer)
the Nakshatra Devata for pushya is Lord Brihaspati, who is actually the embodiment of planet jupiter !! and one of the most famous stories of Lord Brihaspati is the story of Him and Maa Tara.
Brihaspati is known as Devaguru (lit. "the divine teacher of the Gods"). because of His role, He becomes intensely absorbed in His spiritual duties, scriptural rituals, and His prestigious position as the priest of the Gods. and even though Lord Brihaspati's work was extremely important, it consumed all of His attention, leaving Maa Tara feeling emotionally abandoned and driving Her to seek affection elsewhere โ ironically, She ends up finding it from the moon God, Chandra. the very planet that rules over the sign of cancer.
all of this is to say that pushya nakshatra, and the sign of cancer in general, is a message that life is not just about work, prestige, status, and fulfilling obligations. we have to nurture the other areas of human experience. to be "lazy" and enjoy days where you do nothing, to have sex or other physical comforts, to eat what you want without guilt or grief, to spend time listening to music or nothing at all. pushya nakshatra teaches us to nourish ourselves with activities that don't involve labor because it's important for feeling fulfilled in life.

vishaka
in the film secretary, we see an example of a people pleasing jupiterian native with a lack of boundaries and a compulsive need to fulfill the wishes of others. lee holloway, played by vishaka sun (โ๏ธ) maggie gyllenhaal, acquires a job as a personal secretary to a lawyer. he once mentions that he believes he accidentally threw away some case papers, and lee willingly offers to dive into the dumpster to recover them. even after she goes to such extreme lengths for him, he casually dismisses her and mentions that he already found another set of papers. her employer constantly gives her contradictory/redundant tasks to test her submissiveness โ to see the lengths that this jupiter woman will go to please him & fulfill his wishes.
vishaka women often attract men who mean to humble them & 'tame' them, as is common with jupiter placements. because of this tendency to over extend themselves and such difficulty denying others, i often see people taking advantage of the jupiterian native โ to observe how much of themselves they are actually willing to give and to gauge how much they are willing to tolerate
inspite of this outward submission & overly docile behavior, she shows signs of pent up anger and frustration (the vishaka duality) and as is common with vishaka, she undergoes a transformation โ a makeover ushered in by her boss' demeaning critiques of her, prompting her to change her way of dressing, to start wearing makeup and to adopt new mannerisms โ a deep transformation which the vishaka native subconsciously craves.
mr. grey, her employer, demands her to stop her self-harming tendencies (which she was previously institutionalized for) and to break away from her overly involved, overbearing mother. she becomes entralled with his ability to control & influence her and with how he is able to bring about such drastic changes in her being
as a 'punishment' for making frequent typos when typing up his correspondences, he instructs her to bend over his desk and he repeatedly smacks her behind, which the vishaka woman enjoys despite the seemingly demeaning nature of the act; vishaka is of the tiger yoni, a sexually agressive animal. vishaka natives are often prone to extreme sexual repression/bottling up of sexual energy only for it to suddenly explode and burst, almost violently. these women often crave strength & a sexually agressive partner who can overcome them
eventually, she becomes addicted to the control he has over her and the sexual excitement he provides. she becomes obsessed with garnering his attention, going so far as purposely making errors while typing to coerce a reaction out of him. i often see this shift in dynamic in vishaka relationships, where the one initially being pursued becomes the chaser. after this shift in polarity, he basically shuts her out, rejects all her sexual advances completely and delegates her to her former position of just a regular old secretary.
lee attempts to bring out this aggressive, sexually dominant behavior from her boyfriend peter โ feeling disappointed and deeply unsatisfied when he only provides her with tame, regular, 'vanilla' sex. vishaka natives often grow bored and restless if the sex grows stale or too tame, when it lacks the unbridled passion & excitement that they crave. scorpio is deeply entwined with power dynamics and these natives often need to have a clearly defined submissive & dominant in their relationships
eventually, lee manages to garner her employer's attention again, and he finally gives her the sexual attention she had been craving from him. this deeply satisfies and excites the vishaka protagonist, however mr. grey is fraught with feelings of shame and disgust for his behavior towards her โ prompting him to abruptly fire her from the job
in an attempt to relive the excitement she felt with mr. grey, lee meets up with random stangers she finds via bdsm newspaper ads. i have seen jupiter natives go through a hoe phase after a sexual awakening, in order to discharge all this pent up energy they store. with their often lack of discrimination, discernment & boundaries they may end up getting sexually involved with individuals that they later end up regretting
despite his abusive behavior towards her, at the end, mr. grey and lee end up getting married โ fully integrating their sexual proclivities into their relationship & daily lives. they both embrace their shadow side, disregarding the established norms of what is right or acceptable, settling into complete autonomy over themselves, rather than settling for unfulfilling relationships which are deemed more appropriate by others. this film was an intriguing exploration of several vishaka themes ๐ฎ

All the Navagrahas Can Take You to Moksh, but the Journey Can be Smooth or Difficult
In the Bhagavad Gita the Lord says that it is a smoother journey towards Moksh by following the path of Karma Yoga and surrendering your karmas at the lotus feet of the Lord. It is equally as possible to reach Moksh by being on the path of the householder as it is by being on the path of a sanyasi. All the nine navagrahas were created by the Lord for a reason. And all of them have the possibility to take you on the journey of Moksha; be the grahas direct, retrograde, or combustโthey all have their own ways of taking you closer to liberation.
However, as the Lord says in the Bhagavad Gita, certain journeys are smoother than others. For a sanyasi who is on a solo journey towards merging with the Parabrahman, there are many risks and obstacles on the path. There are many a stage that can come, at which the sanyasi is at the risk of falling down from his level of spiritual attainment. Therefore, Hinduism has always offered a multiplicity of paths towards the attainment of liberationโrecognizing that each individual has their own temperament and inclination.
Therefore, even if you have badly placed planets or planets in bad dignity, don't lose hope and keep moving forward one step at a time. Have faith in God and know that Shiv-Shakti are there with you always, even if you cannot recognize their help and blessings in the beginning.
Om Shree Gurave Namaha
Om Shree Matre Namaha
Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaya
Om Namo Narayanaya
Have a blissful day ahead :)
GURU CHANDAL YOGA (and why it's the best yoga I could ask for)
WHAT IS GURU CHANDAL YOGA: This Yoga is often seen as a controversial Yoga that involves Jupiter and Rahu in one house/conjunct. It is known to cloud one's judgement and be morally questionable and be susceptible to illusions, enough to be called a Dosha. But in my opinion, Guru Chandal Yoga is one of the most empowering Yogas to have. I'm not saying this out of the nuance that Jupiter has the capacity to control Rahu as I have learned. But I might not be accurate in this, so this is my disclaimer.
In today's society where so much materialism and superficiality have permeated, I have never felt this grateful to be able to courageously and confidently embrace my craziness.
I grew up as an outcast all my life, still finding a place where I could fit in and belong. I'm also in search of a place I call home. All this time I grew up only knowing of the sole reference of me as the problematic one or the villain from all my past interactions.
I'm not trying to turn a blind eye on my own faults, of course I'm not as clean as others who think of me as innocent would think. But it's crazy how they kept on telling you "the world does not revolve around you" or other statements meant to invalidate you and come across as logically, realistically, and morally superior, and yet they are the same ones who tend to live with regrets.
Sometimes, I feel excruciatingly in pain with the lack of connections and only myself to confide in. But sometimes, it makes me wonder how I became so empowered enough to treat the word "psycho" as a compliment? Maybe rebellion is in my blood, and like the Rahu-influenced person I am in my Rahu mahadasha with this Guru Chandal Yoga, I seek to break the flawed hypocritical society and the reality it upholds as I spit to its face.
Guru Chandal Yoga is definitely a chaotic one. But it's one that could give you new ways of thinking that the greater superficial society won't bother comprehend. As someone who has this Yoga, I always believe that those ones who have strong Guru Chandal influence will also be able to find just as noble and golden paths to illuminate for others belonging to their own personal causes.
Sure it might be lonely, but embrace your eccentricities. You'll never know how many people out there would root for you.
I am rooting for you too.
Stay authentic like a good psycho you are.
