The two left socks are uglier than they look in this photo, lol, and I'm putting them in the clothing swap bag. The athletic 🧦 socks at the left are fuchsia, teal, and grey with black, and if they fit and don't give me ligatures like last night's socks did, I'll probably wear them down to threads.

Six pairs of socks (and two to share with friends!) for the price of a walk around my neighborhood, and staying connected to the group!

Like Undertaker, I got this from wealthy old people who think they are helping the medical community. Nah, I'm kidding. I explained it was for a cosplay prop. But the concept was hard to grasp.

Me: No, not a prop for a play, a cosplay prop.

Her: 🤔

Me: ...A prop for a costume.

Her: oh, ok. Well, come and get it!

Me: Yay 😁

Her: *gives me directions over the phone*

Me: Uh, huh. Uh, huh. Ok. *just pretends to write crap down and then types address into mapping app*

It's less than 5mi from where I live now, but it looks like another region. I know they have $$ because of their house and where it's located....

Now my Undertaker just needs a real Ciel OR a fake real Ciel and a Victorian-looking wheelchair 🦽.

Tip for anyone who lives in a college town: find out when your local dorm & apartment move-out times are. I got all these items from my apartment’s dumpsters. I didn’t even have to “dive” they were just sitting right on top. Pretty clean and lightly used. Results will vary, obviously, but the ideal spot is the more expensive housing. I’ve lived in both the dorms and the apartments and the dumpsters are definitely richer here.

Freecycle and Clearing Out the Garden Shed

Despite a lot of clearing out so far, the garden shed still contains a number of old imperfect, but still interesting items.  Most were just put in there after a couple of house clearances.  Charity shops wouldn’t be interested and the items are not valuable enough for auction, but there’s a ready market on Freecycle for such things.

Members can just place a simple advertisement including up to one photograph and a description (including any imperfections) and Freecycle will post it, then forward responses to your e-mail address.  Select the person you like most and arrange collection.  There’s more on groups.freecycle.org including a search facility showing the 5,331 local groups around the world.

The two items pictured above are an iron cobbler’s tool and a Wall’s ice cream container of about one cubic foot of a type used until the 1950s.  There should be several responses for re-use of each of them, which is even better than recycling.
