So it is not enough just to think that we need to surpass capitalism, we need to think what we want to put in place of capitalism. That’s why ecosocialism is pushing forward the discussion on what we are going to put in place of the things we don’t want. So instead of just challenge the crisis and getting tired by reactionary politics, we also try to push forward the necessity and need for hope. But not a naive hope; We need to have hope together with the action, and the possibility of building a different world. We have tools to make it possible, we have more possibilities than we know. We just need to mobilize, we need to have more conscience about this crisis. We need to have the conscience that there is a system, a structure, and we need to attack the structure, the root of this crisis. There is the need of being courageous to build something different and create the power, the necessary power to make it happen.

Conservatives see these examples as a kind of rigid austerity imposed by a Hippie Elite, and they in turn will oppose most of the measures advocated by climate activists under the pretense of "populism" or "freedom" or whatever the fuck. They're playing right into the hands of Big Oil and the broader capitalist ruling class, but at least they're free to drive their trucks right off a cliff with the rest of the planet.

Liberals see these examples as a sign that everything is going a-okay 👍 That climate change can be kept in check by Green Growth™ 👍 That Business Leaders™ and Thought Leaders™ will make the right decision to curb their emissions voluntarily and with some light regulation 👍 And then everyone clapped Bill-Maher-ily 👏 Get in the street to protest for climate action, sure, but make sure you have the go-ahead from the state first ✊ This is the most radical you can reasonably be ✌

You might be in academia, a lawyer, a doctor, or hold a level of authority and power in your current position. If you’re young, you might be class president, on student council, a team captain, or hold a leadership position in a sorority or fraternity. Own your power, share your ideas, share what you know. Tell people about the gravity of the situation at hand and the opportunity to fix it, strategize, make and act on plans for both the future and right now. Talk about how acting now it troubleshooting and preparing for the possible future hardships. Don’t scare people. Empower them and organize. Be open to the fact that you don’t know everything and expertise can come from people you least expect. Learn how to handle frustrations in a solution oriented way, if you were to belittle and insult someone (even if you think you’re in the right to do so) what’s the most likely outcome of that? Is that the outcome you need? Play chess, not checkers. When bigots and far-right people try to mess with you and smear your groups campaign, don’t get messy back. They want your attention to be pulled away from your plans and work. Address them only when absolutely needed, keep your and your group’s attention on your work. You have a good head on your shoulders, trust yourself, you got this!

6 of Cups - Your work or calling seems to be centered around children, our past childhoods, and childhood / childcare of the past. A lot of research about what was childhood like for other people from different times and cultures. You are a nurturing, warm, caring, and protective person who might think a lot about how our children are being raised now and the future children to come. You’re not thinking about your own family, you’re thinking of every child on Earth. Your heart is with everybody. You might be wondering what this has to do with the climate crisis? Well, frankly, a lot. When reviewing what children of the past had, that means we’re talking about what we’ve lost, and are losing. We’re talking about what we need to protect, create, restore, and heal. We’re talking about how to create sanctuary and safety for all, because if it’s safe for a child, it’s safe for everyone. That automatically means we need clean water, clean air, safe housing, safe food, access to proper healthcare, beautiful green spaces, and peace / no war. This naturally heals Earth. When researching past childhoods and childcare methods from your own culture or other cultures, take care to not romanticize it. Just because it might be better than what we have not doesn’t make it perfect. Apply critical thought to everything you learn and share, even the amazing stuff. In the meantime, get the kiddos you take care of outside to hang out and play (even if they’re playing on their Nintendo Switch or big screen time kids, tell them they can use it on the picnic - it’ll probably help them get use to being outside and they’re more likely to put the device down).

Judgement reversed - With peace and love, girl, wake up!! Reassess your life and lifestyle, your values and beliefs, for real. You put yourself in a self imposed la-la-land to ignore and deny something that actually deeply bothers you. It bothers you for a reason! Don’t waste your precious time on this escapism. I know it’s scary. Trust me, I know. You might feel like you can’t do anything, the problems are too huge, so you want to hide in your cave and pretend that things aren’t how they are. It’s time for you to learn how to hold the weight of the world’s problems without letting it collapse onto you. How can that be done? By letting the rest of us hold it with you. You have immense inner strength and resolve, and it’s time to build those inner spiritual muscles. Start with the small stuff as you learn self reliance and face what’s been turning your stomach into knots. When you begin volunteering, learn from the leaders and elders around you and follow their guidance.
