Been seeing some great prices for the #fireandcane. Its a great gift idea for a novice whisky drinker who is trying to get into Islay whiskies. It's a shame this experimental series never reached Australian shores. It is priced exceptionally. With a flavour profile that will suit all palates. Smokiness clashing with toffee. Here is my review of the Glenfiddich Fire and Cane:. Nose: Soft peat notes, very discrete. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spices. . Palate: The peat is there again, like a peat campfire, with sweet oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke. . Finish: Medium with lingering smokiness and sweetness. . All in all a good scotch just perfect for this time of year 😉. The #glenfiddich Fire and Cane an excellent balance between peat and sweetness. Right from the nosing I could tell this was going to be something different. #peat came to the fore immediately as toffee sweetness passes by effortlessly. On the palate peat dominated again as the smoke subtly builds up. Though it felt like there was something missing. It needed some sweetness. Add a few drops of water and BANG! Vanilla notes come to life and belongs perfectly alongside the smokiness. Smokiness continues to the finish coupled with mild sweetness. Overall a great dram.
