#final marks

So today I received my final transcript for my undergraduate degree. After receiving my final grade yesterday I’d spent the last 24hrs thinking I’d got a First (top degree classification in the UK) only to find today that one of my previous units was not weighted 50/50 like all my others, but 40/60. This brought my unit average down to 69.6 from 70.5 making 0.4% the difference between a First and a 2:1, this is equivalent to one mark on one assignment.

I’m trying to move through the stages of grief with grace and dignity as I currently sit between Bargaining and Depression, and support from my peers is already helping me to see that 1 mark off a First is still something I can be immensely proud of.

I am pretty happy with them. Again, patho is my lowest grade but honestly I’m just happy that I passed. Here is a post about all of my grade, plus a little recap of the semester, how I felt about the classes, and how I feel about my grade.

Surgical and Illness Nursing:

Final exam mark: 80%

Final mark percentage: 79%

Final letter grade: B+

I feel like I could have gotten a better grade in this course, but it is what it is. Honestly, this class was heavy and had so much material to cover so I’m glad it’s over.

Intermediate Nursing Skills:

Final exam mark: 85%

Final mark percentage: 87%

Final letter grade: A

I am happy with my grade in this class. I feel like I learned a lot in this class, I feel comfortable in my knowledge, and I really liked my instructor. I am really excited for the fall when I get to expand my scope even more!

Nursing Clinical Placement: 

Final grade: pass

This course is pass fail, so no mark or letter grade here. After my past exam on Monday I had my final evaluation meeting with my instructor, and she only had positive things to say. She said that by the end of the semester I seemed comfortable on the unit and confident in my skills, which I agree with. I feel very confident and prepared to go into practicum this year.

Pathophysiology Part 2:

Final exam mark: 72%

Final mark percentage: 68%

Final letter grade: C+

I feel pretty meh about this grade. I wish I had done better in this class, but it was really bad and I did my best, so it is what it is. I really liked this class and I thought it was super interesting, but I’m also really glad that this course is over haha. 

Healthcare Ethics:

Final exam mark: 70%

Final mark percentage: 82%

Final letter grade: A-

I’m fine with my mark in this class. I kind of thought that my mark on the final exam was going to be higher, but I don’t really care. This class was interesting, I like ethics and thinking about those kinds of problems and theories and stuff, but the class was a little boring. Good content to have, probably could have been delivered in a more fun way.

No one can tell you for sure why there’s a delay. Once profs submit marks to the course department, the department is responsible for releasing the grades. So it’s not just the professor’s fault. Right now everyone is on holiday, so you likely won’t have an update on your transcript until after new years.

You can, but it won’t speed up the process.

It’s very likely referring to business days, nobody works on weekends. :P I understand the frustration and anxiety, but you just have to wait it out, it’s the same thing at every university. I’m in grad school in a completely different province and we wait on grades too 🤷‍♀️
