The PTDLC.
The PTDLC (Periodic Table: Downloadable Content) is a largely developed facet of a long-term worldbuilding project I've been continuously working on for the past 1.7851 years. (because why CARE about characters or geography or history, right?) It is an immensely expanded version of the periodic table and by extension, chemistry itself.
Initially, it was intended to be a short-lived bit of worldbuilding speculation, but after having gained severe and destabilizing amounts of my interest and attention, I directed a great amount of my life to it from then on.
It took me a long time to find out the direction I wanted go in for it. Feeling around, I felt that I wanted it to be "crazy" and "heart-attack inducing". I now know how hard it was to fight against actual physics. (Trust me, physics in reality IS the fighter you think it is, and a half! Handwaving stuff can crush you like a boulder once someone's brave enough to criticize your science.)
I decided to take the easy way out and assume my world had different laws of physics that supported the wacky smelly table of gooflements. However, the easy way out, I later discovered, was not the easy way out. The fine structure constant, gravity, etc, is finely tuned so everything can exist.
At the time, I certainly don't think I was ready for the intense repercussions that altering such a fragile component of reality could cause. Of course, I am more aware now. My work on the PTDLC somehow opened up a lot of doors in the real world for me.
These opportunities only pushed me further into building the PTDLC. I was given another push when I found myself in a group of friends that shared an interest in chemistry as I did. If you are reading this, thank you so much!
This blog will from here on be focused on the development of the PTDLC. Any and all suitable questions will be entertained and answered, and I will try to interact with everyone who comes in here!
Thank you for reading!
