No offense but it is incredibly lazy worldbuilding that there are 12 fundamental particles of matter at the smallest scale (not counting antiparticles) which can combine in an absurd number of ways, and the majority of them are completely irrelevant and never make up any kind of matter that you can touch or interact with so there's actually only two (2) kinds of quark and one (1) kind of lepton that are actually relevant. Well, neutrinos too, but speaking of that "Oh yeah there are 3 kinds of them technically but they're literally interchangeable, as in they spontaneously change types and it doesn't matter" bullshit. That's a cop out. That is what someone who just didn't want to come up with interesting properties for 12 elementary particles would say. So yeah there's 12 fundamental particles but only 3 of them actually make up all the ordinary matter, and the others don't make up some kind of special matter, either they're so unstable they might as well not exist or they're neutrinos which almost always just fuck off into deep space forever as soon as they form and never participate in reality again.
And then those make exactly two (2) "stable" hadrons (being generous with neutrons), but then those make 80 stable elements plus a few unstable but still relevant ones, plus a few "naturally occurring" bullshit elements that are too unstable to exist in macroscopic quantities, plus a few secret elements that can only be made by alchemy, and then a bunch of even more bullshit elements that are only there to fill out the rest of the periodic table as a fun easter egg for high energy physicists.
This is just bad writing.
