I know that this might be a given, but if I EVER find out someone is commenting links of my fanficsâESPECIALLY THE SMUT ONESâunder any of Shawn's accounts or any other actor in general's account (ie tiktok, instagram, twitter), I will be deleting and shutting down everything, and you all will never hear from me ever again.
coming from a fandom where an author is currently getting death threats because fans thought it'd be a good idea to comment smut fics of a person with his coworker under his tiktoks and also bringing it up in a large YouTube fandom where the YouTuber tweeted about it, this is insensitive and insane.
don't even get me started how mad I get when celebrities (noah wyle I'm looking at you) bring up fan fiction into professional spaces. not even 6 years ago, fan fiction was such a taboo subject, but then covid happened and we all forgot how to act. like what happened to fandom etiquette????
KEEP THE FICS INSIDE THE FIC SPACES PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING THAT IS HOLY!!!!!!
people who are brainless and can't separate reality from fiction shouldn't be allowed to engage with rpf istg
or we should make people take a basic fandom etiquette exam before they're even allowed to join any fandom
Guys. It is so easy to check if a fandom artist has posted their work to Tumblr. If it is, you should reblog directly from the artist to give them the recognition and credit they deserve!
And if not, you should be getting permission before you repost. If the work is already here or you donât have permission (artists are allowed to say no, and you should respect that!), do not repost the work.
It is that simple to respect the artists that are creating the art you are enjoying.
so something super detestable⌠i have to get it out⌠the way adults treat minors in adult spaces.
iâm talking about the way kids are blamed and shamed as if it were their own fault for getting harmed.
itâs common to hear âwhen i was at their age, i was playing with [insert stereotypically childish activity here], not doing [stereotypically grown activity here]!â or âtheyâre growing up too fast.â in my fandoms, thereâs lots of âOMG these kids categorize themselves as tops or bottoms, EW!â or âthey shouldnât engage with adult media!â
this is all ALL victim blaming.
being curious about adult things is absolutely normal growing behavior. kids, even the most âpromiscuousâ ones, deserve to be protected. theyâre just like everyone else in their age group. dirty minded, immature, silly. you canât expect kids to know better: theyâre cognitively undeveloped and technically impairedâ which ironically is why they shouldnât have nsfw conversations with adults in the first place. (likewise, please remember all types of cognitively impaired groups (minors, drunk, injured, under duress, highâŚ) canât give valid consent.)
shaming kids doesnât help keep them safe.
how to curate a safe environment: a safe adult shuts conversations down immediately without resorting to blaming, shaming, and villainizing children. DO shame bad adults instead.
post was made after someone reblogged under mine shaming the child dmmd cosplayers who came up to me. we donât do that here.

i hate loving characters that are deeply mischaracterized and sexualized because as much as i understand he himself is hot, no that torture scene should not be considered erotic. like wtf?!?!?!? i thought you liked the character. why do you take pleasure in his pain? btw this applies whether a character is male or female! just because the show tries to drive fan service into women's suffering doesn't mean you should be getting off on it. that shit is gross.
This is your reminder that itâs okay to leave kudos on older fics. Even if the author hasnât posted any works in months.
That alert email may just find them on the verge of a mental breakdown. And it may give them just a moment of reprieve
Shoutout to you, dear anon guest in my inbox. Life is genuinely hellish right now but at least my silly little playing with dolls moment made you smile. And that, in turn, makes me smile âĄ
So btw, fandom etiquette is like, not mentioning characterization that's subpar or bad writing or "cringy" topics. If you are racist, you WILL be called out, because that's a completely different thing. Same for transphobia, homophobia, sexism, classism, etc. Those aren't "gripes you have", those are actual issues with the work that you need to fix.
