i've complained abt how ppl seem to talk abt arophobia and amatonormativity in the context of fandom way more than in the context of real life but, man. it does suck to go into a tag for a character and see that 80% of the posts are about ships and nobody seems to care about them outside of the romantic relationships they made up. it's just a depressing microcosm of how people treat real-life romance as the most important thing in the world, so if a character isn't interested in dating they should be shipped with someone, and if you say they could be aro it's interpreted as an insult, the same way if you're aro you should "just find the right person" and being single is seen as either something worthy of being mocked or pitied or something that needs to be fixed.
