Instructions: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. Preheat your oven to 425F 220C. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape them into bagels. Make a hole in the center of each bagel. Boil the bagels in the sugar water for 1-2 minutes per side. Drain them on a wire rack. Mix sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried minced garlic, and dried minced onion in a bowl. Sprinkle the seed mixture on top of each bagel. Bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
