What if their personalities were intact, but their roles were reversed? This is A Study in Pink flipped. In this au, John is the unstoppable consulting detective, and Sherlock is the broken doctor, newly invalided from Afghanistan. Both gifted geniuses, both equally flawed.

It takes a small tragedy to shake John into action. Will he come on home? Season 4 fix it (kind of) with third person, multiple POVs (John, Mrs. Hudson, and Sherlock).

But with each trip to the park, Sherlock also feels a growing sense of hope. That is until the past horrors return unexpectedly in a cryptic note folded in the shape of a heart. To decipher the message, Sherlock must uncover the nature of the hearts around him, including his own.

Written for Fandom Trumps Hate (which needs our support now more than ever before) and commissioned by the talented bluebellofbakerstreet, who requested some BAMF John busting in and saving the day along with fluff, because, um, BAMFs are softies at heart (and that's exactly what this story is about).
