Fun fact, Hiccup once made everyone in his gang flaming weapons like his own
But uh….
Completely understandable Hiccup
A Series between httyd2 and httyd3 would be much more interesting and creative than whatever they want to try with this live action remake
Don’t get me wrong, I love httyd with all my heart, but I rather see a series between httyd2 and 3 and a exact adaptation of the book, than a live action cash grab from a movie series, that is very near to my heart. But I can’t stop talking about the thought, how a series in between httyd2 and 3, which is based on the Comics and Ideas Richard Hamilton had for the franchise. His ideas are more creative than the live action train, we have to face. I‘d rather see a TV show about the httyd comics, then this useless live action remake. Just imagine how it would look like if the comics would come to life in the animation style of Chaos Theory and as cherry on Top, the same producers as from Chaos Theory. They have proven themselves in Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory, more than once. And I still think they would be a good pick if we ever got a sequel series to Rtte, that isn’t disrespectful against the original. If they would go in a more mature theme with more adult themes, like Hiccup having nightmares about the death of his father, Astrid and the duties she has to face as the Chiefs General and his future wife, how does she feels about becoming pregnant and having children, what plans does she and Hiccup have for the future, aside from marriage, explore Toothless‘ tragic backstory being the only night fury left and so on. Would make a lot more sense to finish this part of the story than whatever they want to do with the live action remake, aside from nostalgia bait, even if it was not even a decade since the last movie released, and money. I see no point in retelling an already great story. But no Hollywood and Universal want to be lazy and uncreative, again. The abuse of franchises just drives me nuts and now our beloved httyd is their next victim.
in my head, Dagur, Eret, and Bayana are best buds
they're a trio that go around flexing their muscles and trying to one-up each other in combat ...but they also deeply care for each other. the platonic love is strong.
Somtimes Eret will goad Dagur into doing something stupid and/or allow himself to be goaded on because no way in Helheim will he let Dagur beat him at something. If he does, Eret is a graceful loser but Dagur is not. Dagur's a sore loser and Eret and Bayana have to cheer him up when he loses at something.
Bayana's usually the voice of reason but he can be cajoled into stupidity once in a while. Most of the time though he watches with disbelief like...why are my friends such idiots. And then he lovingly patches them up with they get scrapes and bruises from their stupidity.
I was listening to the HTTYD soundtrack and literally just remembered that I had the HTTYD comics that I got for Christmas a few years ago...

I wish there were more httyd comics between httyd 2 and httyd 3 :( there’s only two and they were so good!!! I want moreeee
Currently thinking about Hiccup in tears and begging Toothless not to go where he can't follow in the Dragonvine comic.
In watching HTTYD 2 I realized something. It was the specific scene when Hiccup confronts Drago. I was supposed to be doing homework, but I glanced up at the screen in time to see Hiccup say, “To take over the world?” And my mind came to think to RTTE, and as my thoughts continued to run, to Viggo. Cause hel, when do I not think about him?
Anyway, I thought about how the writers of Dragon’s Race to the Edge really had the capacity to make Viggo even more of a threat, but they didn’t. Like said above, Drago meant to take over the world. He’d already conquered several tribes, as evident by Eret, Krogan, and the tribe the Riders came across in the graphic novel Dragonvine. Drago didn’t deny it when Hiccup set it forward. Simply saying he needed dragons to control other dragons, and in turn people as well. Why I thought of Viggo, is because of when he voiced his denial of it.
The episode of Defenders of the Wing Pt. 1, he says this in specificity: “I don’t intend to rule the world unlike, some people. I am simply a businessman.”
I do watch that scene intently when he says that. Because of course, it calls to mind the other villains and their intentions. And in this scene, Viggo hesitates. It really is open to interpretation on who he was referring to when he said that, as you could think either Johann or Drago. But considering how in Triple Cross he says that he hardly knew much of Drago (which honestly seems rather shaky to me), it does seem more likely to be Johann.
Johann does admit it, he wants to become the richest man in the Archipelago. But again, they also make it blatant that Viggo didn’t carry that same intention. They did make it apparent that he was wealthy, judging by the hefty price on Hiccup’s head in Midnight Scrum and how much gold was found on the island in Gold Rush.
They kept Viggo confined to a “businessman” who ran a business that had been in motion for what we’re led to guess- ongoing for centuries. Yet, he proved to be just as devastating as Drago and Johann. Dare I say, harder to defeat.
