Remember how Hiccup was actually winning the sword fight against Viggo in Triple Cross and only got disarmed because Viggo had the Zippleback gas that he made explode to knock Hiccup back?
Yeah. I think about that whenever I see someone talking about how Hiccup looks like he'd be weak or not as strong as he actually is.
Cause, like. He was winning against a man with twice his experience. Was able to push Viggo back. Make Viggo's feet slide and leave marks in the dirt with how much force he was using.
Hiccup knocking Snotlout unconscious and knocking out three teeth was far from the only example of his strength we've seen throughout the series.

rewatching triple cross then came across this frame
Just look at Hiccup’s face. The man who drove him insane, committed genocide on his tribe, threatened his girlfriend, tried to kill him and his gang time after time holding his hand like that. He’s dying of awkwardness.
IM SORRY I HAD TO (forgive my making him blush skills I don’t usually do this)
My take on a design of an older Viggo! I have a little bit of backstory on the concept below! (Also note that it is steeped in Vigcup angst.)
This could be a design for an older Viggo regardless of premise, but the main one I had in mind is what I will refer as the Guardian Viggo AU.
During the events of Triple Cross, after their alliance, Viggo and Hiccup acknowledge their complicated romantic feelings for each other. Neither get a chance to fully act on it, since the episode ends the same way, only this time, Viggo and his Skrill survive.
His Skrill manged to fly Viggo to a remote tribe that was able to bring him back from the brink of death. After which, Viggo wanted desperately to return to Hiccup, but didn't feel like he deserved to. After all the pain he's put his beloved Hiccup through, what right does he have to continue to complicate his life? If he tried to pursue the Berkian heir, what could come of it but bringing Hiccup shame and stress and conflict? No. He loves his dear dragon rider too much to continue to be a burden on him, and decides to honor his word and never let Hiccup see him again.
Now, whether Hiccup chooses Astrid in the time that passes or not is up to you, I personally can't decide, but in this time, Viggo looks after Hiccup from a far. For years, he is Hiccups shadow. His guardian. Catching stray arrows and keeping Hiccup safe and helping him solve his problems anonymously and silently. The world thinks he's dead, so he grows out his hair to help cover his recognizable scar. He wears part of it in a braid because it reminds him of the small ones in Hiccups hair when they met. He gets older, grayer, but can't bring himself to fully leave Hiccup be. As much as it hurts him, he's selfish for the sight of his love.
Then, one day, Hiccup discovers him. The now chief of Berk finds out he's alive, and all that comes with it.

I’ve just realised that hiccup never reacted to Viggo’s scars in Canon on screen. Like triple cross is the first time hiccup sees Viggo again after that volcano incident and doesn’t even comment on it or even has arranging to it. And Astrid never saw Viggo’s burned side in wing of war pt 2 so she couldn’t have told Hiccup about Viggo’s injury. Which leaves me to the question that’s keeping me up all night. How would Hiccup react to it.
Hi, anon! Hopefully you won’t have to be kept up thinking about it anymore, given this fic you inspired! I really appreciate you sending this, because it made me write!
