You know the feeling when you suddenly can't remember if you have your phone so you slap your own ass to check if it's still in your back pocket?
There's worse.
When you suddenly stop in the middle of a crowded hospital corridor because you just remember "oh my stethoscope!" and you just grab your own tits with both hands. Because the stethoscope should be hanging there but it's not. (You've put it in your pocket 2 minutes ago.) Bonus points if you've been wearing sterile gloves and there was powder left on your hands so now you have two handprints on your chest.
When you keep putting off taking your anxiety meds because the brain demon in the shape of old doctors/parents/friends tells you that you should be fine without them even though you emphatically arenât.
So, horrible doctors.
I've met quite a few of them.
One of them having the audacity to say "actually i think youre depressed because youre fat" to a potential mental illness patient.
Trying to get an adhd diagnosis at 23 is hell.
I mean, i got diagnosed by a doctor who is literally conducting a research on adhd, plus, two other but i still get the "you might be just depressed" from others.
Don't get me wrong i know i could have depression too, i know how comorbid ilnesses work. But i am not depressed.
Im simply not.
I do get secondary depression time to time but that's basically just because i get undersimulated and bored as fuck. And it goes away in a few days, tops.
So yes long story short, doctors please don't be assholes and if you are a doctor who is an asshole, fuck you. (get better tho xx)
Not writing, but I need to rant. Guys, I have to get a new doctor, not only is this woman refusing to order any of the x-rays my physical therapist wanted, but she just claimed that scoliosis doesnât need to be monitored in adults.
Youâre....youâre supposed to get x-rayed every five years. I donât...does she even know what scoliosis is?

someone: so have you ever met anyone famous?
me, thinking about the few times i met someone famous which all happened at work and are thus subject to medical confidentiality: ............no
On Sunday I mentioned my illness to a friendâs mom. It was done in passing - my friend was asking how I was doing and then said I had a âchronic pain thingâ, so I clarified. The mom is a doctor, and Iâve known her for years so I had no problem with it being brought up, but I was bothered by her response.Â
It was basically âThat sucks, but have hope because God can heal you. Thereâs this video of a woman who couldnât walk and she went to a healing service and she was healed! It was amazing, you should watch it.â And that was that. Well, she elaborated more on the story than that, but then she walked away to do something else.Â
I do believe in God. I consider myself a Christian. I hate the way a lot of churches and Christians in general handle chronic illness. They forget that Jesus didnât heal everyone. They forget that when Jesus did heal, the focus wasnât on the illness itself, but on the personâs spiritual state and their connection to community/worship or place in the community.Â
I donât have hope that God can heal me. I have hope that I can have a good life even with this illness. Her words werenât comforting to me, they were patronising and dismissive. I know it wasnât her intent, but basically what she was saying was âthe life you have isnât good enough, and it wonât be good enough until your illness is gone.â
Plus thereâs the whole mess around healing within the Christian faith - am I sick because I donât believe enough? Because I donât have enough faith? Because thereâs some sin Iâm holding on to? Because I want to be ill instead of well?Â
It was just a short conversation, but it was so frustrating.Â
