The animation seems like they really push over-exaggeration, especially compared to later seasons and Sponge Out of Water. (There were a LOT of shots where Spongebob and Patrick had huge bodies and tiny limbs to show excitement, and half of Plankton's animation was kind of purposely grotesque, which makes sense but was kind of hard to look at.)

Alex sat huddled on the ground in the cold, trying to warm his hands by rubbing them together and breathing on them a little bit. He was progressively looking worse and worse with each day he was living on the streets. Dark circles were appearing under his eyes from lack of sleep and his clothes were gathering more wear and tear every day.

He held a small stuffed teddy bear close to him. He'd stolen it from a toy store and it was providing him some security in the cold on the streets. It was one of the things that he'd never really gotten to have growing up, toys and a sense of security. Now that he could have them he wanted to enjoy them to their fullest. 

He began to hum a tune. "Pure Imagination" from Charlie and the Chocolate factory. It was the first song he'd ever heard and the sound of it was comforting to him. He got up and climbed onto a bench, lying down and curling up a little. He closed his eyes, breathing a heavy sigh. He was hoping nobody would kick him off the bench.
