I shall be taking part in the British Heart Foundation's Dechox event during the month of March 2018. This will be hard as I am VERY fond of chocolate. The British Heart Foundation supports people with heart conditions as well as funding research and health education. Heart disease is the biggest killer in the UK and the second biggest in the world after stroke. Heart problems do not just affect the elderly and obese. Children, teenagers, and perfectly healthy adults die daily from complications and heart problems. Heart conditions run in my family. My Dad has a heart condition and my Grandmother passed away when I was a child because she had a heart attack during a routine operation on her ankle. I am currently taking more care of myself as I get older and this is helping to start me off. FYI, I plan to live until 100 and show Betty White a thing or two. For the whole month of March, I will be giving up my daily vice, chocolate. I am hoping to raise at least Β£150. Please could you spare a pound, dollar, euro, or some yen to help? This March Iβll be helping to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, and taking on the DECHOX - meaning Iβl be ditching all sweet treats β that means absolutely no chocolate, no biscuits, no cake, no sweets. I am facing four long, miserable treat-free weeks to help the BHF fund itβs life saving heart research. And thatβs why I need your help.
As little as Β£3 (the price of a large chocolate bar), could pay for three disposable flasks that are used daily by the BHFβs scientists in their pioneering research. Β£10 (the cost of a fancy cake) could pay for a story pack to help a child grieve for the loss of a loved one.
