Yk when I watch shows I usually have a notepad open because I'll like a scene or dialogue line
But now I'm realizing I just really like deadpan characters
I think they're hilarious

im not very good at being funny. usually when people laugh at something i say it often is not something i said to be funny on purpose. And when im funny on purpose my delivery is often deadpan so it helps to know me well. so when i tell a good joke it goes into my comedy filing cabinet in my brain and i like to use it in social situations where i dont know people super well. I am often in this situation at work. I work with in-patients as a cardiac sonographer and my go to joke at the end of a lot of exams is:
"thanks for working with me... I couldn't have done it without you!"
with or without the exclamation depending on the vibe and pt rapport
It has about 73% laugh reaction success rate and I'm extremely proud of this joke. Even patients in severe pain will laugh. This is the best thing i've done with my life probably.

"i know where you're ticklish" is such a scary threat
Sometime over the last 10 years or so I started doing this thing where I’ll take responsibility for something I clearly did not do. Like I’ll be on the first day of visiting a friend for the first time in many months & one of their housemates will be like “who did/didn’t do/took whatever thing that’s irritating last night” & I’ll say “I did,” knowing full well that everyone there knows I wasn’t even present at the time the irritating thing took place & for just a second - for like a teensy fraction of time - I can see the glitch in their eyes happen where they have a brief moment of realizing that the irritation is meaningless & not actually attached to present day events & THAT MOMENT is fucking beautiful
