Failure was something that no Black Hat Organization employee should do. They all knew the consequences of an unsuccessful mission, and it came in force. Thorn happened to be the unlucky one today…

She had just come back from a difficult solo mission to assassinate a hero known for his regeneration abilities. She came back to Black Hat hoping for some kind of praise— Only to receive the opposite.

She didn’t walk out of that office unscathed. She was bruised, a handprint mark across her cheek, and small pierce wounds from his claws. She knew she had to go back and fix what she had failed.

So she did, and she killed the hero faster than he could heal, and she was covered in blood. Her hands, her dress, everything… Only to receive a “You should have done that the first time. Go, clean up.”

To say she was devastated would be an understatement.

She went to her room, the door a crack open, she curled up on the floor, a puddle of the blood dripping from her hands appearing beneath her as she began to cry into her knees.

She didn’t think anyone else would hear, but the chances were higher with her open door.

The uncomfortable cries and pleads of a friend nearly made his stomach ache, on top of Black Hat's unsettlingly monotoned insults.

It was best he'd stay away for now. He had work to do anyway.

Blueprints in hand, Lead started to make his way towards Dr. Flug's laboratory, distracted by making sure the details were perfect. Even if Flug would stress he could refine the print himself. It still felt like the right thing- especially if HE is the one crafting the blueprint, right?

Desperately trying to keep his hair from dripping onto the paper, he notices an unfamiliar sound. His head would snap towards the noise, and a sinking feeling followed, seeing Thorn's room.

She was crying.

He couldn't blame her for that. Lord knows he would be in the same situation.

Instinctively, he slowly steps towards the crack in the door, trying to see where she was. ".. 𝕰𝖑𝖑𝖎𝖔𝖙, 𝖉𝖊𝖆𝖗? 𝕴 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖟𝖊 𝖎𝖙'𝖘 𝖗𝖊𝖉𝖚𝖓𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖙 𝖙𝖔 𝖆𝖘𝖐 𝖋𝖔𝖗 𝖞𝖔𝖚𝖗 𝖜𝖊𝖑𝖑-𝖇𝖊𝖎𝖓𝖌- 𝖇𝖚𝖙.. 𝖆𝖗𝖊 𝖞𝖔𝖚 𝖆𝖑𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙..?" Of course she wasn't. But what else should he have asked? He was the artist- not the therapist.

Yet, why is he doing this? He could have left her be, continued his job, make Black Hat not entirely despise their existences, but no. He's genuinely concerned for her.

‘Just a normal day here, isn’t it? I.. I’m sorry for being a burden on you all.’ She mumbled, wincing slightly at the sting on her skin. She knew she could just heal herself, but it was the last of her boss’s touch she’d felt! Even if it was negative.

He didn't see the need to comment about what he presumed to be blood on her hands. And a scratch mark across her face. Just looking at it made him wince.
