Summary:

Amelia Rogers returns home exhausted after a long shift at Bellevue Hospital. Though deeply passionate about nursing, she has secretly enlisted in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps, following in her late mother’s medical footsteps. She’s been juggling studies and clinical shifts in secret, keeping her enlistment hidden from Steve and Bucky to avoid their worry and protest.

The morning of her graduation, Amelia falls asleep on the couch and is later woken up by Steve and Bucky, who praise her hard work but express concern over her selflessness—especially when she admits to giving away her own food to help other nurses. A heartfelt confrontation ensues when she reveals that her graduation ceremony is being held at Floyd Bennett Field — a Naval Air Station — and confesses to enlisting in the Navy. Steve is heartbroken but proud; Bucky is conflicted but understanding.

Dressed in her Navy service blues, Amelia leaves for the ceremony accompanied by both men. During the event, she’s celebrated as part of the Navy Nurse Corps graduating class of 1941. The commanding officer’s speech emphasizes the importance, courage, and impact of naval nurses. As she receives her Red Cross medic armband, she locks eyes with Steve and Bucky in the crowd — both overwhelmed with pride, knowing the girl they grew up with has become a woman ready to serve her country.
