"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes?"
daisuke's cowboy hat stays ON durring sex
The final pages of Montgomery LaMontgommery's final adventure book.
How are we feeling gang?
Anybody else still caught up in the moment when the Zephyer Mk 1 goes down? When Comfrey and the others have all landed and she looks for Olethra? She looks up and her wildly brave and beloved granddaughter is facing down the construction of hell itself. Not alone, but with MONTY.
Monty, the man Comfrey maligned as a coward. A dandy. Soft. Not a 'real' Wind Rider. Monty, the man who called her out when she was buying too much of her own hype and endangering those around her because of it. Montgomery La-Goddamn-Montgommery is the one facing down certain death with Olethra, not her grandma.
Monty never told Olethra what he thought of Comfrey. He didn't want to tarnish that adoration, but he knows the dangers of buying the hype, because adventure means everything to Olethra. And he's been around enough to know how dangerous that is.
So when Comfrey looks horrified and finally realizes her granddaughter means everything to her, she's finally, FINALLY on the same page as Monty. And he's up there with Olethra the way Comfrey never was and I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
Goes to show Olethra had more than one awesome grandfather looking after her.

I’m thinking more about the keys being a bootstrap paradox.
So a bootstrap paradox refers to a causal loop in time travel. It’s when something has no origin or beginning, because in the object’s own future, it ends up in the past, which then again leads to the future, goes again back to the past etc etc. so where did the thing originally come from? Nowhere, it simply exists. That’s the paradox
I really hope the keys are a bootstrap. I know Brennan mentioned cadswitch getting them from some monks in relation to the stone towers. But eh I don’t find that very satisfying. They’ve unlocked every door they’ve needed to in the intrepid heroes journey. So how does cadswitch get the keys? Hopefully either from comfrey or Maxwell, either by cadswitch appearing in the future of zood/zern, or by the heroes somehow time travelling to gath’s past (the door inside the straka seems like a possibility).
So for example, the keys are given to young Cadswitch by a time travelling Maxwell, Cadswitch gives them to comfrey a few years later, then Maxwell get them in the repossession. Maxwell then time travels back to young Cadswitch and repeats the loop.
Obviously, this is a paradox, because where do the keys come from? Some people interpret bootstrap paradoxes to be created by time loops themselves, as an outpouring of excess energy etc. basically, the keys are created by the time loop in service of the time loop. It keeps the time loop running. The keys need to exist, so the time loops ensures that they do
Anytime Torse talks about Zood and Zern, it's really interesting because as I understand it, a lot of what he knows comes from Comfrey who he may feel indebted to.
And with everything we've learned about Comfrey, it doesn't feel like a reach for her to, you know, stretch the truth a little to make a better narrative out of it. Like the way she spun her getting funding from the Ministry as getting one over them or the way she spun Monty leaving as him not being a real adventurer.
There's a question here of how much can we trust Torse when it comes to Zood and Zern which is more of a how much can we trust Comfrey when it comes to Zood or Zern question.
