HAPPY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DAY!!! - AUGUST 4, 2025
The first Chocolate Chip Cookie was actually made by accident in Whitman, Massachusetts in an inn called the Toll House. In 1938, Ruth Graves Wakefield one day planned on making regular chocolate cookies but got the great idea of throwing in chunks of a chocolate bar into it. Much to her surprise, the chocolate did not mix well with the cookie and instead, it filled up with tasty chunks of chocolate.
I've been addicted to chocolate chip cookies since I can remember.
One of my favorite family memories, is learning to make chocolate chip cookies with my maternal great-grandmother, up at my grandparent's summer cabin at Brant Lake, S. Dakota, between 1958 and 1968.
Every July, my grandparents would vacation there for the month. We had a large mixing bowl, white with beautiful tulips painted on the outside.
I don't make mine anymore, but there are a couple of fast food places that have great chocolate chip cookies, including Wendy's and Arbys (theirs come with salted caramel), yum.
