HOW YOU FEELIN AFTER CHAO TALES HALLOWEEN SPECIAL CUZ I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF YOU WHEN I SAW THE MOON
Feeling PRETTY DANG GOOD thank you! 8D
Especially because I was already planning on drawing the broken moon in my short Chao Tales fancomic project (sorry it's taking forever, this is the time of the year when I am busiest IRL sadly), so having it confirmed that the moon is indeed broken in this continuity is great news for me!
I'm flattered that you immediately thought of me! I imagine it's because of my Prime Sonic characterization essay where I mentioned the moon as a visual example of canon discontinuity in the games?
Mind you, I don't actually mind canon discontinuity in Sonic media that much: as I mentioned in the essay, continuity-wise, we can't afford to be too demanding of a series that has existed for over 30 years and been written (and translated) by so many different people from different cultures on different formats.
What I really love and appreciate about Chao Tales are all the callbacks and parallels it contains while still working as a stand-alone series: it's a really simple story with no dialogue, and makes the most of visual storytelling to make its characters endearing even to people who are not too familiar with Sonic lore. Yet at the same time, there are references to even the most obscure and ancient games and characters (I did not expect to ever see the Tails Doll again, I haven't seen this little guy since freaking Sonic R! It came out in 1997!!!) along with more recent cartoons like Sonic Prime (I could practically hear the "This is for your own good!" line over that one scene at the end of the race; even Sonic being left hanging and high-fiving himself got referenced in the post-credits scene!)
Mostly though, the Chao Tales team has shown such obvious love for the Chao Garden and its lore. Chaclon is a legend, and it felt so good to have their overwhelming power acknowledged and properly challenged! (None of my Chao could ever beat this little menace in Sonic Adventure 2.) But more importantly, this challenge is not just a reference for the sake of making a reference: it becomes crucial to the Shadow Chao and Sonic Chao's development as characters, and as a duo.
Needless to say, I absolutely adore Chao Tales.
Everybody give these cuties a round of applause!

I need to learn how to make macarons so I can have chao themed ones and the black ones can be chacarons.
