Katydid x Vigilante Kittens
The kittens are here!
green boy - black boy - orange girl - gold girl - blue boy
I'll share some notes on them because as you can see, some are a little chunky.
Green was very loved by his mom!
So was Black, hence the chubby cheeks!
Gold was um chewed on by her mom...
Mom was really confused by Blue and didn't understand how to feed him.
I was going to adopt them over at WW forums for WW’s Maine Coon week!
To read more about the parents, check out this first post!
Katydid x Vigilante
I decided to breed two of my SGCh. kittens together for WW's Maine Coon week. Only one of them is a Maine Coon but that's okay... what can go wrong??
Witz's Master of Disguise "Katydid"
He's always very excited and happy to be here with tons of energy, this sweet kitty is the son of two SGCh. from Witzy@witzworld
SGCh. Witz's Crocodile Tears "Attention"
X
SGCh. Xoops/Witz's Tropical Migration "Dragonfly"
Dahlia's Dress for Villains "Vigilante"
Vigilante is a skinny macro-mini Persian (LOVE) with oshie shakes (omg!). Her showname is from Taylor Swift's "Vigilante Sh!t"-- the whole litter was referencing random Taylor Swift songs/lyrics. She is the daughter of two of SGCh. catz from Dahlia@Spellbound
SGCh. Dahlia's Fancy Pants "Boujee"
X
SGCh. Lex's Supernova "Nova"
These two catz are actually a bonded pair! I know-- rare in the show litter breeding scene! Katydid is such a softy and got sad when I had to put Vigilante away to have her litter in peace:
Vigilante is a bit sassy and independent. She doesn't really seem to get emotionally attached, but does like Katydid (loves to tackle him constantly).
Kittens coming soon.....
sooooo... My anal-retentive tendencies towards Sorting and Cataloging may actually be verging on archival.
See, I figured out how to alter breedfile names properly, as well as default pet names. With these tools, I can semi-standardize breedfile names, including source tags, find and adjust breedIDs to avoid conflict, AND also differentiate default names. All of which I'm recording in my spreadsheet.
The breedfile name standardization is largely so it's easier (for me) to find and group breeds, because I'm cleaning up abbreviations/naming quirks, and also moving source tags to the end of the name, so instead of having "VPZ A. Inu" and "SN Akita" (fake examples) I now have "Akita Inu (VPZ)" and "Akita Inu (SN)."
The spreadsheet has the original file names still listed in a separate column, and other columns have the source name and (working/available) URL(s), and original and altered breedIDs.
As for differentiating default names? That's because when I run batch breeding, the offspring are automatically named a default with a number, and if I've got 100 breeds with "Homebody" as the default, it makes it hard to figure out who's who when I inevitably mix stuff up. (I'm not messing with unique names the original creators gave them, unless they've already been used.)
Of course, since I'm already in there, I'm also cleaning up the extraneous strings these files spawn for no reason. And I'm checking the BEvent text (the text that appears when you pick a breed from the AC if you have "on-screen tips" turned on) and, if the creator hasn't changed it (or has just cleared it entirely), I'll put something funny or just "Kitty!"
Lastly, for Unibreed files, the resource includes a spot to input the author and URL. This is helpful in both directions, because some people had the foresight to fill this bit out, so even if I'm having a hard time finding the source myself, I can still tag it by the creator listed. In the other direction, if I already have the creator's name/handle and a working URL, I'll add those in when the fields are blank!
Of course, all this work is only benefiting me at the moment, unless I actually make my modified files available for other people. Which I'm not opposed to doing! However, I don't wish to step on toes here - not everybody is going to be chill with a) me modifying the files in the first place (even if it's just basically the meta info I'm tweaking - I don't touch the actual code), and/or b) making those modified files available to others (even if I am including all the available source information and URLs I can find alongside it).
Ideally, if I did provide access to my files, the .zip would also include the creator's original file/.zip contents, and a readme that explains what I did to the modified file, and includes the original creator's information (because again, I have no intention of taking any credit for anything except being a huge fucking weirdo who likes organizing shit).
That all said, some of the other things I want to figure out are 1) changing the pick-a-pet image to replace those that just have the base breed's image, and 2) properly rerouting the file paths for textures so ALL of the texture files can be in ONE folder within the Catz/Dogz folder (instead of having a mess of texture files loose alongside the breedfiles, and a handful of folders that may or may not include duplicate files). (Again, I like organizing things. Right now, I'm heavily abusing Mac's tagging system to keep things somewhat orderly, but that's not ideal (especially when it randomly decides that I'm Not Allowed to edit a file's tags anymore...).)
So.... Yeah. That's where I'm at these days.
the magenta isn't intentional - their pics in Pick-A-Pet are transparent where the magenta appears when they come out XD; not sure what made that happen (or how to fix it, but since it doesn't seem to crash the game, I'm not that bothered)

I mentioned in the tags of another post that putting a space and alphanumeric characters after the ".dog"/".cat" part of the breedfile doesn't affect the game's ability to parse the file correctly.
This is not strictly true, as I've found.
See, I ended up with a handful of .dog files where the animal came out of the AC looking like it'd been put through a taffy stretcher. I thought it was just because the file was corrupted or something. Turns out that's not the case. Out of curiosity, I took off the extra bit after the ".dog" and tried them again - and they worked perfectly!
This isn't universal, though. I have two "Airedale.dog" files with "1" and "2" after the file name and they both show up perfectly fine. The difference seems to be that the ones that CAN'T be appended to are all Unibreed, while the ones that CAN are game-specific.
Additionally? This only affects .dog files - .cat files can be appended to no problem, Unibreed or no.
Luckily, I have a very anal-retentive system to manage my growing collection of breedfiles, so it shouldn't be a huge deal that some of my duplicately-named files can't be used together (though I may need to make some adjustments to the wheelz to account for this on the off chance that somebody pulls, say both "Lizard 1" and "Lizard 2" when they're two files that can't co-exist due to being unable to be differentiated. (I wonder if the .pet file is also affected if the breedfile name is appended to after their adoption... I'll have to test this.) (Or else I guess learn more about editing breedfiles to adjust the file names themselves...)
Second one from the ones my partner pulled...
I sort of love these ones?

I'm in the process of sourcing all the breedfiles I have in a spreadsheet (bc I do like me some spreadsheets) and I'm finding that
I super appreciate it when the .zip file is named the same as the .cat/.dog file
while it does sometimes make it annoying to find certain breeds in an alphabetized list, having the creator's initials/tag in the breedfile name also makes it a LOT easier to source - especially in the case of common-name breeds/animals (which Schipperke is this? who knows! pick one!)
I can definitely tell when I got something via the DOPP bc if I'd actually been on the source site, I would've downloaded a bunch of other shit...which I am now doing (I can't help myself)
many sites are old and still use iFrames so linking specific pages is sometimes tricky; even older ones are only available via Wayback, and that is one long URL...
I'm really glad these files are so dang small bc I actually do save all the .zips and any extracted folders, so if I need to double-check that I'm sourcing the right file, I end up unzipping files again (and then deleting the copies - my poor trash is getting a workout lol)
