I've legit been hyperfocusing on sorting and cataloguing the crapton of petz breedfiles I've downloaded - and not just that, but figuring out how to alter breedIDs so I don't have breedfiles with conflicting IDs.
I have (so far?) ended up with 364 .cat files and 403 .dog files that are working properly in my Petz 4 game. So that's not counting the "no-show" files (won't show up in the AC no matter what I do (31 cat, 13 dog)), the legitimate overwrites (for both the OG breedfiles (16 cat, 2 dog) and variation options for hexed breedfiles (7 cat, 12 dog)), the "off-breed" files (star instead of cat/dog icon, slotting them in with the OG pig and bunny files (3 cat, 2 dog)), or the borked files (the pet is SEVERELY messed up trying to come out of the AC (21 dog)). Or any of the original breeds, for that matter (20 total).
mind you, I stopped downloading "normal" breedfiles like halfway through my perusal through the petz webring, so most of these range from "wacky-colored cats/dogs" to "a literal Mimic," with Neopets and Pokemon and an impressive sampling of the rest of the animal kingdom in between.
I got LNZ Pro working via Whisky, which is how I found and fixed the conflicting IDs, and also how I figured out why one of my files was throwing an error but only sometimes (it was missing a texture file in the expected filepath - I unfortunately didn't have it anywhere else, either, so I had to track it down, which should not have been difficult since it's an internal file ripped to be used externally, but the one archive I found had uploaded the wrong fckn file for it!! but I did manage to find it elsewhere, so there's that).
I've made a spreadsheet for cataloguing them all, based on categories and shit like legs and wings. I'm eventually going to backtrack everything I can and record the source name and link, write down descriptions of each breedfile, record their breedIDs and version compatibility, and include other notes. Maybe even get proper pictures of each breed.
...I may, in fact, be a huge fucking nerd, yes.
