Butter Rum sticking around but not the fact that it was part of Emma's psychological warfare campaign to gaslight and emotionally abuse Firestar into becoming her child assassin kind of bugs me.
Some fans did discuss it on Twitter with x-men voting for Firestar.
Emma’s emotional abusive behavior is pretty well brought up- Astonishing X-Men focused heavily on the bad blood between Kitty and Emma, Warpath and Firestar related stories usually deal with it, and so did Generation X mention Emma’s rough past with her Hellions…
It’s kind of like with Rogue though, how many times can you focus in on Rogue stealing Carols powers before it starts to feel a bit stale? It just gets boring knowing EVERY TIME Rogue pops up in a Captain Marvel comic…it’s just gonna be a rehash of that one plot point again…and again…
Butter-rum sticking around is kind of like all the bad Xavier jokes or Scott marrying a woman who looked EXACTLY like his wife and thinking it was totally normal (this is also A CHRONICALLY creepy trope in comics!)…
I don’t think it’s undermining that it’s wrongful behavior…just that the idea of blowing up a horse (technically it was a fire but everyone remembers it as blowing up a horse)…is pretty ridiculous writing.
