Very. When I was a kid there was too much florid in the water and that stained my teeth. Happily front teeth ended up with cavities, so the stain is now covered up. Still smile with my mouth closed though.
(also Iâm generally very goofy looking when I smile, so I donât much. The best photos Iâve ever taken are with photographers who understand this fact.)
17: what color do you really want to dye your hair?
Pink.
45:Â do you trust your instincts a lot?
About people, yes totally. My brain is pretty good at recognizing danger/general jerks. Everything else though Iâm massively unsure of.
64: what color is the sky where you are right now?
Black with a sort of rosy yellow filter.
79: what's one of the cutest things someone has ever done for you?
Thereâs a older gentleman who is very kind and helpful too all, and he keeps offering me food at church. While not inherently a cute thing, thereâs something in the way he shyly and politely offers it. He is concerned that I stay heathy and eat well, and thusly is the very best of men.
(also good are people who have knitted me things. Nothing says love like the the gift of warmth)
99: list some songs that resonate to your soul whenever you hear them.
Tom Waits- Never Let Go (sing me more of longing and pledges of loyalty, you weird-voiced man)
Ringo Star- Sunshine Life For Me (all covers of this song are pure delight)
Traveling Wilburys- End of The Line
Jerry Orbach - Try to Remember
Don Mclean- American Pie
Bok, Muir and Trickett- Turning Toward the Morning (a song to get one through the winter)
Gonzo- I'm Going To Go Back There Someday (I wonder if this is where I get my love scratchy voiced singing of longing)
Iâm more agnostic this subject. Iâm open to the idea of the aliens, but less open to the accounts of visitation (I mean, geeze the distance involved). Personally, I think the alien visitation narrative is just an update to fairy and other folklore stories. Weird stuff happens and humans filter it through the cultural and religious tools weâve been given.
I have similar views on the subject of hauntings, but I live in an old house in an old town (this town is so used to it too. The attitude is, just keep doing what you are doing, itâll stop in a bit ). Keeping rational objectivity in the face of weirdness you are dealing with is hard, and I only have scientific explanations for some of it.

My siblings have way more experience with fire than I do,* but I do have weird and very vivid memory of being bored during a Sunday dinner and staring at the candle on the table. And you know that blue-ish line before it turns all properly orange? I remembering seeing that bit as a great hall. My memory tells me there was a silhouetted pair of dancers, and they did a sort of waltz-y dance with graceful movements and then bowed to each other and left.
Obviously, this is just a day dream, or maybe I dozed off, and its nothing real, but it had a very profound effect on me. I was an exceedingly logical, skeptical child who had no trouble telling reality and dreams apart, but at the same time, I was always staring at flames in an effort to repeat whatever had caused me to see dancers, but I was never able too.
*One of my siblings set the lawn on fire 4 times. He also used kerosene for grilling. He was/is an not the most safety conscious person in the world and I have no idea why my parents let him grill after that.
Wedding/engagement prompts, number 2, percabeth :)
Yessssssss, this is probably the most Percabeth-y prompt in the whole list! But Iâve seen this done with monster fighting soooo many times (because letâs be real, Percy would TOTALLY propose to Annabeth while monster fighting) that I decided to do something different. Hopefully you like it! :D
send me a prompt!
2. âthis is probably a bad time, but marry me?â
Percy sits three rows from the front, right in the middle of the crowd of sharply dressed businesspeople with laptops or notepads, and fidgets. He adjusts his tie, he taps his fingers on the arm of his chair, he rolls up his sleeves, he bounces his knee⌠basically, he runs through every single nervous tic in existence. The movements earn him plenty of pointed looks from the men around him, but as Percy eyes the stage, being judged by corporate clones is the last thing heâs worried about. Just one more candidate, he thinks, and thenâŚ
âThank you, Mr. Thomas,â one of the committee members says, and the crackle of the microphone makes the man onstage jump.
âOh, is it time for me to go, then?â he asks, voice raspy and tense.
âYes,â the committee member says. âWeâve seen enough.â
âOh,â he repeats. âWell⌠thank you for your consideration.â
Percy doesnât think heâs ever seen anyone run away so fastâand thatâs saying something, considering his monster fighting history. Mr. Thomas picks up his model and bolts off the stage before heâs even finished his sentence.
The committee members take a long time to deliberate about Mr. Thomasâs designs, whispering to each other in hushed tones the microphones canât pick up. Percy starts picking at the hangnail on his left thumb. Is it bad that theyâve been talking for so long? Does that mean they really like the design? Does that meanâ
âMiss Annabeth Chase, please make your way onstage.â
Immediately, Percy straightens his shoulders and stops inspecting his nails. He watches as Annabeth strides into the center of the stage, her perfect model of her perfect design covered with a sheet and balanced gracefully on her gorgeous hands. As she sets the model down and steps to the side of the projector screen, waiting for the tech crew to automatically bring her Prezi up, Percy falls in love with her all over again. When her Prezi appears in all its carefully organized, beautifully formatted glory, he falls in love with her yet again. When she smooths down her already-flawless pencil skirt and turns to face the committee with steely gray eyes, heâhe frowns. He frowns because for the first time in years, Annabeth Chaseâs eyes donât seem particularly steely.
For the first time since the end of the Giant War, Annabeth looks almost scared.Â
Percyâs heart breaks, but he doesnât know what to do for her. Heâd cheer her name and tell her she could do it, but heâs pretty sure that sort of thing would be frowned upon in this establishment. Other than that, he doesnât have very many options. Come on, Wise Girl, he thinks, drumming his fingers on his lap. I didnât fall asleep through twenty of your practice presentations just so you could freeze on stage. Youâve got to put more faith in yourself and your awesome building.
âMiss Chase, you may begin.â
To Percyâs amazement, those words revive Annabeth like water heals Percy. Her eyes harden, and her shoulders relax, and she picks her technological clicker thing off the table and faces the committee with a slight, professional smile on her face. He can only grin and watch as she says, âThank you for allowing me to be here today. Iâm grateful for this chance to show you my plans for your building complex.âÂ
She shifts slightly towards the projector screen and holds her clicker aloft. âCompanies today,â she says, âbelieve that buildings should be built only to be useful. Every architect knows the quote that defines the Modernist movement. âForm follows function.â Louis Sullivan said it once, and we have it drilled into our heads from the first day of college classes. Itâs the mantra weâre meant to eat, sleep, and breathe while designing buildingsâespecially while designing offices and building complexes. And I will admit, this quote has value. Modernism has value. Itâs the most cost-effective method of design and the easiest way to create a aesthetically-pleasing building. Itâs a guaranteed success, another glittery skyscraper rising into the clouds.â
Annabeth tilts her head to the side. âAnd because of this value, Modernist architecture is also very common. In a sea of average-looking, glass-covered constructions, another building complex would fit right in. But just because buildings are constantly being designed like this doesnât mean that they should be.â
She squares her shoulders. âI say, forget about âForm follows functionâ. This concrete wasteland of a world doesnât have to stay empty and bland. I believe that thereâs nothing wrong with keeping both form and function and creating a building thatâs a thousand times better, a thousand times more memorable, than a simple skyscraper. So thatâs what I did.â
With a slight flourish, Annabeth pulls the sheet off of her model. Percy canât help but gasp in awe, even though heâs seen her working on it a million times. He doesnât understand anything about architecture, no matter how many times Annabeth has tried to explain things to him, but he can appreciate her final product. The main office building stretches upward like any other skyscraper, but itâs anything but ordinary. Subtle decorative touches and unique, round windows unite to form a building that screams professionalism and creativity all at once. And the buildings scattered around the main office each have their own unusual geometric design that ties into a specific element featured on the main building. Although the surrounding buildings would seem random as a group on their own, the central structure ties them together, creating a complex that is equal parts functional and beautiful.
Annabeth talks for a while, explaining the finer points of the structural design, the purpose of each building, the environmentally-friendly elements, and a spattering of other things that sheâs mentioned to Percy before, but Percy doesnât focus on her words. Instead, he watches her form her words with confidence. He watches her point out notable aspects of her buildings and answer the committeeâs questions like this isnât her first architectural design competition. He watches her overtake the other contestants without even realizing it, and he falls in love with her for the third time in as many minutes.
It takes all of Percyâs willpower to sit still through her entire presentation. When the committee finally says, âThank you, Miss Chase,â and Annabeth thanks them for their time and consideration and walks off the stage, he canât take it anymore. He snatches his jacket off the back of his chair, inches past the people in chairs beside him until he reaches an aisle, and then sprints out of the conference room. Percy knows he probably gets some disdainful looks at his less-than-professional exit, but heâs not the one entering this competition. He doesnât have to worry about what those businesspeople think. And when he knows that Annabeth is waiting in the back, he really couldnât care less about their opinions.
When Percy tries to get into the back, however, a security guard grabs him by the tie and hauls him to the side. âWhat are you doing?â he demands. âDo you have a pass to be allowed backstage?â
âWhat?â Percy gasps, still straining to get a view of Annabeth. âDo I need one?â
âYes,â the guard snaps. âHow do I know that you wonât try to sabotage one of the contestantâs designs? How do I know that you wonât try to steal their ideas for a design of your own?â
âWhat?â Percy says again. âI donât care about any of that! I just want to see my girlfriendââ
âPercy!â Annabethâs voice envelopes Percy like the smell of his momâs blue chocolate chip cookies. He grins at her as she hurries toward him. âI was just coming to look for youâwhy is this security guard holding your tie?â She narrows her eyes. âPercy Jackson, what did you do this time?â
âNothing! I was just coming to look for you too!â Percy tears his eyes away from her long enough to tell the security guard, âThis is my girlfriend. Can I please go now?â
With a grunt, the guard releases his tie. Percy canât run to Annabeth and scoop her into his arms fast enough. âYou,â he says, planting a kiss on her lips, âare amazing.â
Frick, he loves the way her eyes shine when she asks, âYou think so?â
âOf course! Your design was amazing, your presentation was amazing, the way you answered their questions was amazing, and I swear you had the whole room interested in your work. As far as I can tell, youâre going to win this competition hands-down.â
âPercy! Donât make things up!â
âIâm serious! Once you opened your mouth, everything you did was perfect.â Percy steps back, takes her hands, and adds, âI saw the look on your face when you first got onstage, though. What had you so worried?â
Annabeth shrugs. âOh, I donât know. Bernie Thomas started crying as soon as he got offstage, and I guess it psyched me out. If he, a professional whoâs been to at least ten of these events before, was freaked out by the committee, then how the heck would my design survive their questioning? I spent too much time in my own head, thatâs all.â
âWell, you got over it quickly,â Percy grins. âBecause youâre freaking Annabeth Chase, the best architect in the business.â
She laughs. âOh, not really. I just remembered that you were in the audience somewhere, probably thinking that you didnât sit through all my practice presentations just to see me freeze up onstage, and that made me smile long enough to remember what I was supposed to say first. After that, it was easy.â
Percy gapes at her. âThat is what I was thinking,â he says. âLike, thatâs almost exactly what I was thinking!â
A smile spreads over Annabethâs face, making her glow brighter than Apolloâs red convertible. âWell, we have been dating for more than seven years, Seaweed Brain. Iâd like to think that at this point in our relationship, we know each other pretty well.â
âGods, I love you,â he says without thinking, surging forward to meet her lips. âI canât wait until weâre married.â
âWHAT?âÂ
Percy freezes, staring at his girlfriend with eyes as round as hers. âUmâŚâ
The security guard glances between the two of them, frowns, and says, âIâm just going to⌠go patrol the halls. Donât let anyone unauthorized backstage, andâuhâbye.â
He practically sprints away from his post, but Percy barely registers the movement. Heâs too busy panicking. Before he can help himself. his fingers flit towards a suspicious lump in his pocket, and Annabeth notices because sheâs too perceptive, as usual.
If possible, her eyes gets even rounder. âPercy,â she breathes. âDo youâŚâ
Percy looks at her for one, two, three seconds, and then sighs. âI was going to wait until tonight,â he says, âand I know this is probably a bad time, but since youâve figured it out anywayâŚâ
He kneels down and pulls out the box in his pocket. âThere was only one problem with your presentation today,â he says with a nervous smile, âand thatâs that the committee kept calling you Miss Annabeth Chase. I know itâs a little late to go back and change that now, but will you⌠uh, will you marry me? That way we can fix that problem at all future competitions.â
Annabeth raises her eyebrows and laughs. âOh, gods, Percy. Youâre such a dork.â
Percy makes a face. âIs that a yes?â
âYes, itâs a yes!â She drags him to his feet and kisses him. âOf course itâs a yes, Seaweed Brain. Itâs been a yes for years now.â
âOh.â Percy grins. âGood to know.â He hesitates. âBut, uh, do you mind telling me that again in Central Park tonight? I was supposed to wait until then. My mom wanted to watch, and Jason and Piper wanted to film us.â
She snorts. âAre you serious?â
âYeah, sorry. I just, umâŚâ He winks at her. âI couldnât wait any longer.â
âDork.â She reaches forward and tangles her fingers in his hair. âI forgive you, and I like this proposal better anyway. It wouldnât feel right if you actually followed a plan for once.â
âHey!â
âYou know itâs true!â she laughs. âHonestly, Iâm surprised you didnât ask me in the middle of a monster fight.â
He makes a face and mumbles, âI almost did.â
âPercy! Seriously?â
âYeah, last week. You were standing there and you looked so badass and i almost asked you to marry me right then. But I didnât have the ring with me, so I restrained myself.â
âGods. I canât believe I agreed to marry you.â
