Last weekend I fulfilled one of my biggest all-time bucket list moments when after over twenty years in the hobby, I finally made the trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham!
I had built it up so much in my mind and was a little worried it wouldnβt quite live up to my expectations but I couldn not have been more wrong, it was such an incredible experience!
From pulling up in the car park and seeing the legendary Rhino APC sitting outside to walking around the Exhibition Hall in absolute awe of the dioramas and displays, it was honestly the best experience I have ever had in this wonderful Warhammer hobby.
It just so happened that I chose to make the trip on the same weekend that the Warhammer 40k Throne of Skulls was being held, as well as the Black Library Celebration day so the place was packed with people and there was a real buzz in the air. Itβs the first time Iβve been to an even of that size (even though I wasnβt competing) and it was so cool to see all of the armies being set up, players meeting and chatting to each other and running through their lists.
I spent the whole day at Warhammer World, wandered around the Exhibition twice (first time to just take it all in and enjoy the displays and the second time to take a TONNE of photos), had some lunch in Bugmanβs Bar and spent the rest of my time wandering around the Gaming Hall watching day one of the Throne of Skulls tournament take place.
It was honestly so much better than I could have imagined and Iβm definitely making plans to go back again in the future, itβs only a 5-hour drive away after all!
Before I went, I had a good think about what I wanted to buy from the Forgeworld store so that I didnβt waste too much time on the day and it definitely paid off as I was able to get my stuff pretty quickly.
I had my eye on a few tasty additions to my Genestealer Cult army (purely for flavour and painting purposes as I donβt play) so I decided to get an Imperial Arvus Lighter, a Crassus Armoured Assault Transport, an Artemia Pattern Hellhound, a Hades Breaching Drill, a DKOK Mole Launcher Team, a Cyclops Demolition Vehicle,a Genestealer Cult Nexosand some Tyranid Spore Mines.
For Age if Sigmar, I picked up a Mourngul for my slow grow Nighthaunt army and got some scenery kits too.
Apologies for the long excited rant but it really has been one of my biggest hobby aims to visit Warhammer World for years and Iβm so glad I was finally able to go!
Now I just need to find the time to get all of the new goodies built and painted....
Happy Hobbying!
Dave
