I think I also mentioned how in the aligned continuity Breakdown used to be a smaller bot like his G1 self in the Cybertron games, and his TFP toy bio sorta connected the two portrayals by saying he switched to the bigger body so he could fight Bulkhead, and when I thought about that for a moment I was like, oh, trans narrative. This little skittish paranoid bot switched to a bigger body and it fixed literally all of his issues. This is a transgender man.

With that in mind, I saw you mention a couple posts ago how Bulkhead gives you gender envy and I think that could very well have been the reason Breakdown got so obsessed with him back before his transition and started their whole rivalry. Literally can't stop thinking about him and it takes a shockingly long time for him to realize "oh, I want to be him"

and I feel like it's not that controversial to make Bulkhead somewhat self conscious about his appearance, so who better to put him with than the guy who literally based his whole appearance and gender identity on him. His perfect body is inspired by Bulkhead's.

Their fights just seem so intensely charged when you read it things this way. It becomes all about "how do you like what my new body can do?" and RAAAAAAGGH I need Breakdown to show him just what it can do in every regard. Breakdown clearly loves fighting Bulkhead and I think it's not just because it's a chance to do something macho/manly with the guy who was his transition goal but also because it's the closest he can get to satisfying the urge to bend him over that extended from initially thinking about him 24/7 for other reasons.

it's all just so intense and physical with those two, and it makes perfect sense that yeah, of course it would be.

on a sidenote, BreakBulk is afaik the only TFP ship to also have a fun name. Sometimes you'll see the ship referred to as Hammertime. And I mean, that really just shows what Breakdown's options here. He can get with the red twunk and get reduced to letters, or he can finally go bear4bear like Primus intended and get a fun name. And only one of them tried to save him from MECH, just saying.

I just want Breakdown to salivate over the thought of the two of them fucking as much as I do, okay?

so i haven't really given breakbulk/hammertime much thought, ig because i'm a pretty staunch tfp bulkjack fan, but... you've got me thinking, you've got me thinking.

the fact that he transitioned into a bigger body so he could go up against bulkhead is just wild to me. like you saw this giant bot and said "i wanna be like you" and we're not supposed to take that as a trans narrative? ok. sure.

iirc i think breakdown was also supposed to defect to the autobots in the original pitch bible, so can you imagine these two actually getting more time together? no way they would pass up the opportunity to spar, cracking jokes about it being like old times. maybe that's when breakdown admits to changing his frame to be more like bulkhead, which... i can imagine bulkhead might be pretty flattered by that.

Breakdown carries Bulkhead on his shoulders. Somehow.
