I saw this post one time that mentioned how, since Cybertron would need planetary imports for the REALLY nice, SOFT organic fibers, only the richerest of the richest have any imported textiles (woah fancy word)

Which makes even a cheap polyester of some sort is a DELICACY to any bit that stumbles upon it, and don’t even TRY to introduce them to anything like velboa or (faux) fur, things WILL begin to mysteriously go missing .

maybe even especially for fliers (nudge nudge), since all of that would feel heavenly on their wings… devious laughing

it definitely strikes me as something that would be seen as a rich bot thing, but i also think it could apply to those with an organic kink/fetish, too. like, a bot making themselves look more human kinda makes them seem more adorable and cute. the best analogy i can make is that it's like wearing puppy ears and a collar for petplay.

6. Do you prefer podficcing fic you already know, or cold-reading?

I don't think I've ever cold-read aside from perhaps for a Voiceteam challenge? I like knowing exactly what's going on in a podfic before I record it, so I can think about how I want to read, what kind of emotional state characters are in this or that scene, if there needs to be a progression towards something... I also feel like when I'm podficcing, sometimes I'm focusing so much on how to read the words that I don't always fully take on the meaning of the sentences? I know that seems completely illogical and like it contradicts my previous point, but I swear it happens sometimes - I get too "in the zone" and forget to think about the story. In conclusion I think that when I cold read, I might just do a bad job at both reading and podficcing 😅

24. Have you been part of multivoice podfics?

I have, and they've been delightful! Most recently I voiced a snarky WAG in Hollanov vs. the Ottawa WAGs and Scott Hunter in the secret society of stick handlers. I've also organised and produced multivoice projects in the past (including with you! 🥰) and they've always felt very special! It's often a bit moving to be entrusted with other people's voices and performances. I love that the podfic community is so enthusiastic about multivoices!

27. Have you come across podficcing tips and tricks that don't work for you/your process?

Back when I had a plug-in mic: punch and roll. I know people - including you I believe! - say it's changed their lives and but the one time I tried it (which, as always when it comes to getting out of my comfort zone, was for Voiceteams Points), I absolutely hated it 😅 I didn't get with my recording style or what I love aboutp podficcing: immersing myself in a story, not doing editing as I'm literally in the middle of the emotional climax of the scene 😅

7. Do you do any prep before you start recording?

I don't do a ton, no! I might skim the story again just to refresh my memory, and mayyyybe look up specific words if one of them catches my eye and I'm unsure (but usually I wait until I'm literally recording that sentence to look it up. With my mic running, because why not.) But other than that (and building my podfic cave obvs) I press record and figure it out on the go!

25. Are there certain types of stories you like reading but avoid podficcing? (Fandoms, style, pov, genre, tropes, etc.)

I think in HR fandom specifically, there are a ton of social media fics with large casts that I wouldn't record as a solo podfic (but are great as multivoices!) Similarly, dialog-heavy podfics with a few different characters all bantering are very pleasing to read but feel daunting to voice. Also fics with, like, full sentences in Russian.

Oh, and epics! Not that I usually have the attention span to read them either 😅 Anything over 100k is definitely stretching the limits of what's realistic for me to produce as a podfic.

43. Do you enjoy performing angsty scenes, or do you avoid them?

I enjoy them, provided that there's a bunch of comfort in the story, too. But I like sinking my teeth in the really emotional parts!
