Sirius spent the first 11 years of his life trying and failing to be a Black. He tried following every rule perfectly, yet it was never enough.

When he got to Hogwarts he realized that he was glad that he wasn't like his family. That he got punished because he was too this and too that and never Black enough.

He was glad that he made a friend like James Potter because James Potter was kind and accepting and that's everything Sirius wanted to be, everything Sirius actually should be.

The problem was that although he wasn't Black enough for his family he was too much of it for everybody else.

Sirius started spending every breathing second trying to be the opposite of his family yet he always failed. He started praying for the moments he went home so that his mother could yell at him for not being enough, for not being like his family, for being a gryffindor, for not being a Black.

Instead he spent nine months a year listening to the sly whispers surrounding him the glances.

"He's cruel"

"He's insane"

"He's a monster"

It always followed along those lines with his actions or his words being repeated and he would after each try harder. He would watch his anger closer, his mania, and try and keep it contained and he mostly succeeded, specifically after he started taking that anger and turning it towards himself.

Until one day he didn't and he ended up cursing a Ravenclaw student so badly the boy ended up in the hospital wing.

He was horrified in himself and when he finally returned to his dorm that evening after multiple apologies, a visit from his father that left him black and blue under his robes, and his first detention of many for the rest of the year.

For the first time it wasn't just some face in the hallways that said something it was Remus. His Moony. The one with that was the calmest, the one who always listened to everyone side of the story, the one who didn't hold people's monsters againt them.

"You are just like your family, Your just a Black. What is bloody wrong with you?"

Those words cut so deeply into Sirius's chest he felt like the dorm had suddenly turned into drawer that he was forced into.

And Remus? Remus walked past him like he was nothing for the first time since they met. He didn't ask Sirius why, he didn't ask Sirius anything really apart from "what is bloody wrong with you?" and it's kinda funny Sirius spent his whole life asking himself that question he never got an answer. No matter what he tried he was never what people wanted him to be.

That night he punished himself. Worse then his father or mother could. And he vowed again that he'll change, that he'll do better.

It was a silly thought. A hopeful silly thought that should have never existed.

Because he almost got Severus Snape killed two years later.

Two years of being good, of being perfect, of never hurting anyone, and for what? Absolutely nothing in Sirius's opinion because he heard those words again. Somehow when Remus said them this time it was ten times worse then the first.

Or maybe it was the added.

"It's over I don't love you, I'll never love you, infact I hate you. Your a monster, you turned me into a monster. Everything I did not want to be."

Maybe it was James and Peter who looked at Sirius in disgust this time too.

Maybe it was the girls who looked at him the same way his father usually did.

Or maybe just maybe it was his mother's gleeful look when she walked into Dumbledore's office. When after Dumbledore let them have privacy instead of cursing him or yelling at him.

She told him "I'm so proud of you my dear boy, I knew you weren't a lost cause. I knew you hated those who are less then us."

She seemed manic and maybe eleven year old Sirius who didn't know any better yet would have flourished under her praise. Would have been happy he finally did his family right in some way.

Instead he felt this nausea because he acted in the way Bella would have. Or maybe he felt that nausea because he was happy, he was happy he didn't have to hide anymore, he hated that his friends hated him and that didn't feel good but that was mostly the only thing that felt wrong to him, and he didn't hate muggleborns or half-bloods he just hated Severus.

No he wasn't nauseous because he was happy, he was nauseous because of the way his friends looked at him, because he was disappointed in himself, because he did something wrong.

That's why and that's the truth. He's not lying and anyone who assumes different should go to hell.

Oh but he is lying and he knows it. He isn't assuming that's horrifying right? Realizing after you spent years trying to be good. Your not and your happy your not good.

Hera: To Catch a Star -- releasing in early 2023

I'm going to try to share as much as I can without spoiling the story...

The Plot

Rynn Hera discovers he is the forbidden offspring of a celestial goddess and a mortal. As a result of this, he is in great danger and is pursued throughout the galaxy, for his blood makes him more powerful than he realizes. The first two novels chronicle Rynn’s travels with a brooding stranger, a kind but determined celestial priestess, and a witty space pirate/outlaw who is quite literally wanted by basically everyone in the galaxy.

The Characters

I haven’t really introduced any of my characters on here yet because I plan on doing so closer to the release of TCAS (To Catch a Star) but the main character is:

Rynn Hera. He’s a literal child. Lives in a cottage in the woods with his grandfather. Loves anything covered in sugar (three words: honey glazed rolls). Is he a cinnamon roll? A downright crybaby? I’ll let you decide for yourself.

The Trilogy

There are three novels in the Hera trilogy: To Catch a Star being the first.

As the series progresses, the plot gradually becomes more complex and weaves more characters and subplots into the main story, which is Rynn’s journey (both literally and emotionally) as the forbidden celestial child, son of a goddess and a mortal. In the end, a massive war birthed from religious and political conflicts is on the brink of breaking out, complicated by the existence of the celestial child and his powerful blood.

The Aesthetic/Mood

This is just a little sample of the moods across the trilogy, so it’ll vary based on novel.

I Mustn’t Forget the Culture/Fashion!

I’d describe it simply as a combination between Traditional Asian and Victorian/French culture and I don’t know about you but I personally love that combination

Of course, in addition to this everyone is always carrying a handgun/dagger and owns a spaceship/land speeder because although Hera is mostly fantasy there’s enough science fiction in there to classify it as such.
