How cool would it be though if we found out that Eska and Desna's mother got banished by their father because she was getting really worried about the way Unalaq was raising the kids, like an Ozai/Ursa thing, and it all comes out to the twins and they're so mad. Especially Eska because their father always told them their mother abandoned them for a life in the South to be a 'rube' and that's why they care so little for everyone in the South and why they've been so up themselves their whole lives.

So Eska and Desna literally disown their father but especially Eska who now can't even decide if she likes herself anymore because she realizes what a terrible person she's been her whole life because of what her father's done to her. Imagine she just goes out on her own in a blizzard, breaking from her brother for the first time in years but her water bending skills won't work properly because she's so emotionally messed up and her complete confidence in herself that she had before is shattered because she realizes she doesn't like her herself. She doesn't like herself at all but she has no idea how to change.

Then the Krew go out to find her and Bolin's the one to actually find her in the storm and they have this moment where Bolin tries to act all funny but it's not making her better. So, for the first time ever Bo finally gets a serious moment and is all 'Look, you're not your father and right now, the water tribe really needs you. Whether you made mistakes or not' and they just have this short time where Eska is saying sorry for the way she treated him, the way she treated everybody and how much she hates herself but Bo being Bo he's just like 'I can forgive you because I'm not the brightest crayon in the box but you've got to make it up to the tribes too.'

So they go back all bonded; Eska and Desna join the Krew and fight against their father (who I think we can all tell is going to try and take over the South or start some ridiculous crusade to be a dictator). During this Bolin has a riff with Mako who once again talks to Bolin like he's just a kid and is generally dismissive of him, but Eska over hears and is all 'You best not be talking to my man' and comes to Bolin's defense. She completely calls Mako out on being emotionally abusive to Bolin and tells him to step off and stop treating his brother like a kid who can't do anything. 

Bolin see's this and never takes shit from his brother again.
