Avery opened her eyes, but closed them right back. The light was too much for her liking and it hurt them. She felt warmer, slightly better. Her head wasn't causing her that much pain anymore and when putting her hand at the back of it, she felt some sort of material. A bandage that kept her blood from leaking. Three seconds later, Avery jumped out of what seemed to be quite comfortable bed. But it wasn't hers. She wasn't supposed to sit on anything but a cold and musty floor, just like the others. Where were they, anyway? Were they okay? More importantly, where was she and why wasn't she with them?
Looking around, Avery found herself at nicely decorated bedroom. It was small, but was one of those who could easily make you relax and feel like home. There was little wooden coffee table not too far from the bed, with two sofas next to it. On the table, there was pile of books and from what Avery could see, they were all about mythology. Instantly, that got her thinking about Jonathan and how he spends huge amound of his time in the library, researching and going through all sorts of myths and legends. There was vintage wadrobe few steps from where Avery was at the moment, and a painting on the wall that Avery found odd but familiаr to what her brother Elliot draws occasionally. A plate of Avery's favourite cupcake, and glass of water were put on the nightstand next to the bed. The last meal she had before she was kidnapped was, indeed, a tiramisu cupcake delivered to her by her sister.Â
Avery was on a whole new level of confused. Her hands started shaking. She was more scared than when she was in the dark room and couldn't see a thing. At least, there she had Brandon and six other people she knew. Now she was all alone. In this creepy room. Having so many questions on her mind. She wasn't sure if the others were okay, and where could they possibly be. What if something happened to them and she was the last one to be killed or used in some freaky ritual and killed in the process of it? All kinds of scary thoughts started going through her mind. Avery quickly ran to the door. She tried to open it, but is was locked. She put all her efforts, pushing the door as hard as she can, but there was no use. Avery was too weak to break it. "Hello? Is– Is anybody there?" Avery put her hands on the door, leaning her body on it. Her ear touched the wood, while trying to hear any sign of someone else's presence outside.Â
Nothing. Complete silence.Â
She turned around. Wooden boards were nailed to the window, so there was no chance Avery was getting out from there. My phone, she thought. She managed to send her dad a text before, maybe she could do that again. Or even call him. But her phone wasn't in any of her pockets, nor on the surface of any furniture. "Where am I?" she turned back to the door. "Where am I? Where– Where are the others? What do you want from us?" said, raising her voice. When no one answered, Avery hit the door. "Let me out!"
