Here he comes!! I had fun with all that embroidery
(Original post)
I'm really happy with how the colours turned out :D
Sky, Twilight, Legend, Wild, Wind, Time, Hyrule, Warriors
I'm surprised to know that Dorian is the least romanced character according to David Gaider’s Bluesky post. I absolutely love his romance. But I also do feel that his character really shines only if you romanced him.
If you're not in a romance with him, he's that “Good Tevinter” character, whose love for his country and hatred of its corrupted magisters made up his core conflict.
In the quest "Here Lies the Abyss," you discover that Dorian's greatest fear is "Temptation", the fear of succumbing to some kind of allure. If not romanced, it could be interpreted as the temptation of power, leading him to become like other power-hungry mages in Tevinter.
But if playing a romanced inky, you can see that Dorian would hesitate to ‘connect’ with inky. He would put up a wall, asking "Is this relationship just for fun? Is the Inquisitor being serious? If I end it now, it will be less painful than letting myself fall in love and suffering later." Because he's experienced this before; he was abandoned and betrayed by his family, by someone he loved deeply. Because of this, he's afraid to love again. And it turned out that his biggest fear is succumbing to the allure of "being loved."
And I think this is reflected in Dorian's tarot cards. In the first two cards, the snake is either faking its nature and run away through him (white snake in the first card) or trying to hurt him (second card).
But in the Romance card, the snake becomes part of Dorian. It coils around his body but doesn't constrict him; its face is smiling (I think??) and it slithers onto Dorian's open hand, extended to the inky. The black snake symbolizes Tevinter, his true self, combined with the white flower (love + purity), Dorian is giving his true self and his love to Inky.
It's just… really really sweet and wholesome. And also! “I'm good at breaking things” “Hopefully not everything” (as in, please don't break my heart)
And later, in Trespasser, “I know you'd break my heart, you bloody bastard” had me AWWWWW. Dorian Pavus you'll always be my beloved.
Ive been dealing with some pretty bad art block recently, so when I saw @willy-shakesqueer 's DTIYS i was like "Oh well thatll work."
It did work btw, yay me
Anyway here's the art :3 It was fun to draw, although I have NO idea why I did lighting I'm too tired for it to look good idk whatever...
