I’ve found a YouTube channel that covers the topics of a beginner course in the form of a story: you get to follow Nico, a Spanish man who just moved to Germany, and learn with him as he struggles with the language barrier and interacts with native speakers.

I’m in the very, very beginning—far before that, really, with regards to my grand goal of being able to read Kafka and Kant in their original productions. But I’ll get there eventually. To use the old and somewhat worn-out adage: ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day.’

In order to form sentences, verbs have to be correctly conjugated. I’ve put together some examples of common verbs so that I (or you if you want to use this post :)) can have an easy to find reference sheet. I can make a heap of sentences without looking at the conjugations and try to recall them, and afterwards I (or a friend) can go through and correct any wrong ones.

Verb conjunctions in present tense (I drink/am drinking, you drink/are drinking, etc.) + some nouns to go with them:

Duolingo had a nice lesson on basic phrases and I realised I have no knowledge of German pronunciation so I did a quick search on youtube. Again, if there are any mistakes, feel free to correct me or add extra phrases! :)

guten tag - good day (guten is the masculine form of the adjective ‘good’ and is used to describe masculine nouns such as ‘morgen’ and ‘tag’, while the feminine form gute is used for the feminine nouns such as ‘nacht’)
