actually iirc theres not much of “we have to defend yharnam!” talk, or much speech of the slaughter being to protect and be for defensive purposes. mostly “yeah just go out and kill shit. it’s tradition!” and just equating the beasts to being inherent monsters that of course deserve to be slaughtered. like bugs (note also how the combat style ALSO is offense-based, with almost no room for defense)
