blue lock and inazuma eleven do not invite much comparison honestly despite both being about insane high-stakes soccer because they are both very different genres and demographics. one is by the game studio that made yokai watch and one is by the manga writer that loves to write fucked-up gorefests. you can’t meaningfully compare them or combine them because they are both trying to do different things. however i still like to draw parallels between them because i enjoy them both

the thing about inazuma eleven is that it is Constantly presenting you with fucked-up situations and then being like "isn't that a sad/scary conflict? :( well the two-episode arc about it just finished so moving on now :)" and you have to sit there and be like WHAT THE FUCK. absolutely maddening to write fanfic for this series when you're someone who actually thinks about these things.

if i were to try to put one of my friends onto ina11 i'd start with go which is an unpopular opinion and i know this. but go simply hits the ground running with plot much sooner than the original series which takes its sweet time ramping up to the real drama so i think it functions better to snag someone's attention and get them interested. and it also introduces all its most interesting characters immediately compared the original series. i would of course accompany this with copious infodumping about the original series so you would understand why i lose my absolute shit when kidou shows up

tried following some ina11 fans on here and had to unfollow within a few days. wtf are you guys talking about ever
