In Baltimore City, MD: Emaciated dog with BCS of 1/9 found living outside in yard with no shelter or food/water - BARCS, Baltimore MD
- Rescue Needed -
Hoagie- 10 months, unaltered male, 28lbs
Sweet lil' 10-month-old 'Hoagie' was brought to BARCS by Animal Control after being found living outside in someone's yard with no shelter or access to food or water.
Despite this, Hoagie has been an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy. Although, based on his appearance, you might assume that Hoagie wouldn't trust humans, especially strangers, but this is far from the case- Hoagie LOVES making new friends.
Upon examination, our vets noted that Hoagie is emaciated with a body condition score of only 1/9. He has obvious loss of muscle mass, no discernible body fat, and all of his bony prominences (ribs, spine, pelvic bones) are clearly visible from a distance. He has been started on a strict refeeding diet in order to gain weight back safely, and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Hoagie will be available for rescue pick-up on 2/11, and due to his poor condition, we would love to find placement for him ASAP.
Please let us know if your organization can help!
Thank you,
