Hi, im a chicano and stumbled across your blog when trying to find mordern folks posting ab their worship of mexica deities. I've been into- for lack of a better word- paganism for a while,as im half italian, and was and still am giving offerings and such to Greek Gods. I was wondering if it would be okay to start doing to for Mexica Gods too? I feel like ive only been honoring one part of my ancestory, and im really interested in Mexica mythology, but at the same time i dont want to be disrespectful. If so, do you have any tips? Thank u!!
Of course! As long as you do your research and try and connect to the communities that practice - you are golden. Personally, the easiest way to get a feel for the culture (at least for me was) is the work of @/micorazonmexica on Twitter and insta as he posts multiple things regarding the faith in both English and Spanish. I own one of the calendars he made and it’s been wonderful to use and keep track of religious dates.
Other than that, look at books! Dive into codex’s! maybe the language if it interests you, and figure out what tribe you may belong to as you may not even be Nahuatl but another native tribe from the same area. Ask your family if you have any close ties or relations aswell, as that can be a good start to pin it down!

The GREATEST Zoo Of All Time
"Every ruler wanted a menagerie and almost always has. From King Henry's Polar Bear to the Atlas Lions of the Tower Of London we Brits are no stranger to this concept. However many of you may not know that this desire stretched all the way to central America where the Aztecs ruled over 6 million peoples.
This vast society with access to plenty of resources used its trading networks to acquire some of the most exotic animals of North America ever to be assembled in one place.
In this video I would like to talk about Emperor Moctezuma the Second of the Mexican Empire, his lavish collection of extinct and alive animals, and the tragedy that would be bestowed upon this civilization.
It's important to note almost ALL records of the zoo occur after the fall of Tenochtitlan. The Florentine Codex, Cortez's letters and a Tenochtitlan Map from 1524 are the main solid evidence of the zoo, everything else is secondhand or is knowledge that may have been done to sensationalise the Aztecs."
