Endometriosis is a medical condition in which the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside of it. The HSG test, also known as Hysterosalpingography, is a medical diagnostic procedure used to examine the uterus and fallopian tubes in women. It is primarily performed to evaluate the female reproductive system and identify potential issues that may affect fertility or cause other gynecological problems.
During the HSG test, a contrast material (dye) is injected into the uterus through the cervix. The dye flows through the uterus and into the fallopian tubes, allowing the radiologist or gynecologist to visualize the structures using X-ray or fluoroscopy.
